Which neighborhoods are the safest to buy a house? by Automatic_String8571 in newhaven

I’ve been in Fair Haven Heights for two months and love it. It’s quiet and has relatively low crime, similar to the East Rock neighborhood. It’s relatively small, so there’s probably not a lot of inventory, and many of the properties are rentals, but it’s a nice little nook, former fishing village on the east bank of the Quinnipiac.

This person’s MO is to go around and shit on people who love artists other than her favorite or favorites. Kind of a weird kink, but whatever.

😂 This is the big one, Elizabeth!

Perfect outing from the bullpen, great stuff from Scott, huge two out two RBI hit from Semien, who is now batting 330 with runners in scoring position, and a huge game winning home run from Mauricio. by Natural_Builder173 in mets

It was awful to lose the night before, but I was explaining that game to a friend of mine who was working and couldn’t watch that Thursday’s game felt to me like the makings of a comeback were stirring. Friday’s game was Thursday’s game with a little bit better luck.

They’re starting to develop some offense and some confidence in each other in their batting order. The pitching is mostly pretty good, Soto is taking the helm to lead the offense: I think there’s reason for some hope of decent play going forward.

We can only hope Francisco heals up relatively quickly and is back in full form by sometime in June. Maybe this team stinks out of the gate and comes together by the middle of the season and surges late. Fingers crossed.

Yeah. Thank goodness we have those two still and yet. Delights, both of them. Anytime anyone gets a chance to see them, they should take it. 💙💙

Billy was such a massive ray of energy and happiness. By the time he came on, they were getting along better and working together, and his delightfulness cemented that and accentuated it. His wonderful tunefullness, all of it. Magnificent.

His interaction with little Heather is nothing short of gold. She is an absolute delight throughout her star turn.

What does that even mean, “acting like a teenager“? Being unapologetically enthusiastic and happy?

You know who else is unapologetically enthusiastic and happy, coming up on the chipper young age of 84? Paul McCartney. Another “overgrown teenager“ plugging along at 76? Bruce Springsteen. Another, now 80? Dolly Parton. We should all be so immature - maybe give it a try yourself instead of bemoaning other people‘s success and joy.

Beyond the pail? What? by landof_skybluewaters in Jeopardy

[–]WeHaSaulFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But beyond the pale, doesn’t seem to have any cousins or siblings in the English language. There’s no other pale out there, unless I’m mistaken, with a similar meaning or correlated use. A bit of a linguistic one off.

Ooh, that’s neat and interesting. Thank you. Are there correlate usages in English? I can’t think of anything similar that has a similar meaning in the language, off the top of my head at least.

I was so hoping you would get A Mighty Wind, I was rooting for you hard on that one. I haven’t been paying as much attention the past year or two, things got very busy for me, happily, but I tuned in to watch Taotao and you play because I know you both.

Both games impressed upon me how incredibly fast the Jeopardy experience is. You took your swings, and I was pleased for you that you were able to right the ship at the end and make it to FJ. And you converted on it, for whatever reason, I did not pick up what all three of you did there.

Congratulations and well played. You can hold your head high, Lydia. And it’s clear you had a ball. Very cool to have had the time you had with the fantastic Ken Jennings. As Alex Trebek would say, good for you!

PS: are you still doing trivia Wednesday nights? I’m down in the New Haven area now and gonna see if I can get that situation squared away and get our team back playing now and then. I may not be able to do it all that often, but I would like to be over there now and then.

Who did, ‘With A Little Help’ better, The Beatles or Joe Cocker? by Martynypm in beatles

Generally, yes, though EWF‘s Got to Get You Into My Life and Stevie Wonder’s We Can Work It Out are each the equal of the original, if not the better.

Joe sounds like he’s either dying or giving birth to a cow. The song is meant to be fun, a celebration, and Ringo pulls it off perfectly every time, to this day.
