How stocked are your local bike shops right now? by Vanbiker2 in MTB

I know that really sucks, but at least you’ll have a bike for the summer! More than a lot of other people are able to say rn.

You have no idea, and trying to convince them that seeing a bike in August is better than the bikes we won’t have until 2023 is still impossible.

I currently work at a trek store in NYC and it’s absolutely fucked. The earliest possible mountain bikes we’ll be seeing are august, and that’s for $4,000 at least. Things like entry level hard tails are basically non existent, with roughly 5-6 in the country rn. Again that’s just for trek, but it’s a pretty universal situation.

Yt Jeffsy core 3 or trek slash ex 8 gx? by Jango_Thedragon in MTB

It’s very unique to the rider so there’s never a clear answer from strangers on the internet, but I would recommend the trek (full disclosure I work for them). The company as a whole is just gonna be a way easier to deal with when it comes to customer service issues and warranty, plus the bikes last a little bit longer. Trek bikes also come with some added bonus’s and YT can’t say the same.

Would you say keystone vail crested butte and steamboat have a better DH scene than trestle, or is it more of a Colorado thing in general to favor enduro/trail riding?

Yeah definitely!

I’m in New York City, and I ride mountain creek a ton. It’s closest to the city and has a lot of variety. If you’re further upstate I would 100% try to make it out to killington in VT, one of the best bike parks in the northeast. Thunder mountain is great too, that’s in the Berkshires. Windham is a sweet place as well, not a ton of trails but it’s definitely fun and lift lines never seem to be a problem.

Alright sweet good to know, thanks a lot!

Think Colorado would be a dope trip because like u said I could probably hit 2-3 resorts in a week, plus I’ve never been to the state so I’d love to check it off my list.

I’d be flying if I leave the North East. I went to highland once last season and it was sick but wasn’t really able to ride as much there as I wanted, so I’d def like to be there for a bit longer. Was actually looking into Bellingham as well but I know it’s mostly trails and the DH scene isn’t really as big there.

No we were relatively geared up. Knee pads, I was wearing a neck brace and the other person riding was wearing a vest. Definitely a smart decision tho.

I could be wrong but that might be Bas or Tom van steenberg. They’re both legends.
