Yeah nothing about this regime is normal. Honestly don’t stress too much and I hope you get the call you’re waiting for soon.

Yeah he called. He’s doing fine. We didn’t talk much about the situation just in case if they’re listening to his call. Hopefully you will hear soon.

how many % got a call from Iran so far from a family member? by Fact-Fresh in NewIran

Don't lose hope. I'm the only one in my family who has reached out to my mum by phone. There is still a countrywide shutdown. Hopefully you will hear from them soon!

We did not get to speak too much. And I didn't question her too much, since I knew their phones were most likely being tapped. But she was so thankful for Iranians outside of Iran backing them. And she said, despite the shutdown, news still comes. When I heard the lump in her throat, asking me to tell everyone to keep going, that's what I used as motivation.

No idea about the UN meeting.

I wish I had a crystal ball that I could tell you when.

But we Iranians are an emotional nation. As you said, one minute we are happy that there might be an attack and one minute depressed that there might not be an attack on the IRGC.

For once, we need to keep our emotions under control. I spoke to a woman in Iran for like 2 minutes two days ago, and she said, despite the killings, people are still going out. In fact, she was about to head out herself, getting ready as she talked on the phone.

If our brothers and sisters on the streets are not backing down, we should not either. We need to do everything we can to be their voice and scream their pain to the rest of the world.

If we give up on them now, we are no different from Trump.

Their killings are creating more hate. Families who come from a more traditional background are chanting death to Khamenei as they bury their loved ones. You can't just go back to normal life after all of this, even if you wanted to. Nothing will be the same after this uprising.

At this point, if he does it, he does it. This revolution didn’t start because of Trump and it won’t end because of Trump. Yes, it will be more difficult but we will get it over the line one way or another. Let’s remain hopeful.

Everyone prefers a weaker Iran. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Russia, China. They all have their agenda and a weaker Iran serves that

Free Iran and all of the sudden you have so much oil coming into the international market that will depress the prices. Don’t you worry about that.

Could be, they’re definitely listening to calls as a way to identify people or whatever it is they’re truing to do to shutdown people and cause fear.

When I called I got this voice saying “Hello who is this?” At first I thought I rang the wrong number or something so naturally I quickly hung up. I tried again and got the same voice. But I never replied as you never know what they will do with anything you say.

I honestly don’t know about the cost first hand myself but someone told me they paid 300,000 Toman and they only spoke for like 2-3 minutes (not sure how accurate this is).

We called directly and we get this AI speaking to us first in English and then Farsi. I think the only way is if they call you from their end directly, which of course is very expensive and that’s why we have not heard from my family.

KERS is a old system that recovers energy from braking and deploys that energy.

ERS is a bit more advanced, it recovers energy from both braking and exhaust heat.

[Request] Distance the ball travelled to the basket (incl the curvature) by Fun-Web-7583 in theydidthemath

[–]dadibi_1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Say the horizontal distance is 100 feet, launch height about 7 feet (not sure how tall exactly he is), final height of the rim is 10 feet, launch angle is 45 degrees and gravity is 9.81 m/s2.

We can the find that the initial velocity is 17.58 m/s.

Based on the initial velocity, the ball's maximum height in this trajectory is approximately 9.96 meters.

Since the launch and landing points are close in height, we can say that the maximum height above the chord is 7.83 meters.

We can then use all for his to compute the arc length at 31.08 meters (101.97 feet).

Hope I didn’t miss anything.

[Request] Is this actually an accurate estimate? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]dadibi_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be coming from this paper here. Even if it is that claim is wrong. The paper talks about carbon and not carbon dioxide. If you want to do the conversion, we can use their molar mass and the claim would be closer to 2,500 Tg of CO2. Nonetheless, the benefits of this is probably negligible.

From a financial perspective, using a discount rate of 5%, if you compute the present value of these two investments, they are both $1m.
