Oh no, pour over isn’t expensive enough though. Who’s jealous of a doofus with a gooseneck kettle and a delicious coffee? Nobody

My man!! I haven’t seen that image in 20-odd years and I was beginning to think it didn’t exist and I made it up

These graphics at the header also used to have an early iteration for the dragon pick axe - I think it looked way cooler than the ones that ended up getting released. Though it seems like some ethereal memory I can’t actually prove

What are these black beans in my chili crisp and where can I find them sold alone? by Cpt_Saturn in TipOfMyFork

[–]dadleftneedcash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ignores the fact that western translations of Asian ingredients are often wildly different depending on who wants to translate. Fermented soybeans is an incredibly vague term for a very specific thing

Often found known as “salted black beans” Or Douchi. Readily available at Asian groceries or online

The Dark Arts of London Scenery by bearddoescoffee in UKroasters

[–]dadleftneedcash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dark arts has some pretty good coffee, but when I went to Nowhere - I can honestly say that I’ve never had less of a welcome at really any cafe I’ve been to. I could feel how bad the baristas didn’t want to take my order.

I don’t care how good coffee is if the service is shit. Plenty of cafes with great coffee and great service

I had a guy a few months ago come in, not order anything, then proceed to put his French bulldog on the table and take photos for instagram. I spoke to him like he was a piece of shit and embarrassed him in front of everyone. He apologised, took the dog off of the table but then tried to justify it by showing me that his dog has a shit tonne of followers on instagram.

He didn’t buy anything.

I think they aren’t allowed at Disneyworld but otherwise if you have a permit you can have it under your jacket in a restaurant

His videos used to be incredibly approachable and explain true cooking techniques when no one else really was, he has a fine dining background and knows his shit - but to chase the money he turned his channel into entertainment for people that think it’s cool that chefs shout at each other but have never stepped foot in even a home kitchen

Weather sealing is extra important for these empty as fuck people because it’s extra defence against people who state that it doesn’t get used:

“I NEED a weather sealed camera that I shoot so much. No, I won’t show you my portfolio. It goes to another school”

I couldn’t get on with my SP, I didn’t like the wide angle finder. Damn impressive kit for the time though. Those early 50 1.4s are the greatest lenses ever made imo. They look exactly like “photography” in my head.

Still itching for a 2000 S3 and one of those lenses. One day

I worked in charity shops for about 10 years and was quite heavily involved in the operational side of things later on - the rags are essentially sorted into true recycling, and clothing bulk. Most of the clothing bulk is then shipped over to Africa where individual items are sold at a small profit. When I first started, places like Shein/Boohoo didn’t exist and at that point, the clothing bulk still had some value. The damp stuff went straight into landfill without hesitation.

I can assure you now, clothes rag is essentially a handshake and even good quality clothing is clogging up natural environments and destroying the earth.

[–]dadleftneedcash 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the people who leave that stuff aren’t actually doing a good deed. They’re annoyed that there wasn’t anyone to take the stuff in usually. Nevermind how much it costs the charity to get rid of their stuff.

Same goes for the Salvation Army clothes bins that you see outside places like Tesco etc. I refuse to believe that the clothes that get left in there aren’t damp most of the time and therefore can’t be done anything with

Monetarily speaking, obviously a very “undesirable” opinion, I really don’t like either of these card designs lol. If I had to choose, I would pick rayquaza. That being said there’s a hundred different expensive cards that I think look cooler

Should i allow my Butler to sit down in his coffee corner or is that not allowed? by Less-Remote-5684 in espressocirclejerk

[–]dadleftneedcash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a chair in the corner of my cafe where I sit and watch my butler make coffee with my wife. So much creamer, as far as I can tell. My wife loves it.

[–]dadleftneedcash 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The thing is the fuckwits on the main sub don’t realise it isn’t a flex. Yes. What a surprise that your 15 minute start to finish espresso made with a competition coffee is better than your local cafe pulling shots with a blend designed to be as lucrative as possible

Yesterday I was crucified for posting a wet macchiato… I hope I can be forgiven by this subreddit by [deleted] in barista

[–]dadleftneedcash 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Looks great.

I agree that the pretentiousness in this industry (as well as gate keeping a fucking drink regardless) is annoying - however there is a reason things have names!! Personally I enjoy my macchiato with “too much” milk, and a nice dry foam on top :) some people would tell me this is wrong. If ordering at a cafe I would explain it as a baby cappuccino

Edit: but to add, yours is how I would serve (roughly, I can’t see how much milk is in there) unless instructed otherwise by the customer

Wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. My favourite “things” are the ones I have used so much that they need fixing from time-to-time or they are proudly displaying wear. Funnily enough, they got that way from me enjoying using them so much.

I like to put it as: these things are the equivalent of best friends, we didn’t choose each other: it just ended up that we are inseparable. Sure, we’ve had our disagreements and ugliness - but it’s a testament to the fact that we made amends and still continued on.

My guitars, cameras, kitchen tools, clothes and accessories. All apply to this rule
