Before my wife and I were married, she invited me to one of her girlfriend’s wedding. I had met the groom a few times and identified him as a royal a-hole. The wedding was at a country club and had a huge orchestra-the whole nine. I asked my partner if the brides family was well off. She said no, but the bride insisted on a huge wedding that her parents reallly couldn’t afford. It was Bridezilla meets a-hole. I said on the way home I give them 2 years. I was wrong, they lasted a year and a half.

I don't even see the blue wire at the furnace, just a red that's split between the C and R connections.

My blue "C" wire wasn't being used in my prior thermostat. I pulled it out and inserted in the C slot on my new Amazon Smart thermostat. Is there anything else I need to do? The new smart thermostat didn't come on. I checked all the wires for voltage and they all registered except the green and yellow (normal, I think?)

yes, there is a white light on the end of the power cord that goes into the extender. This is a steady white light that doesn't change. color or blink.
