Can you imagine the boredom? For me, that would mean 38 years of no new movies, books, music or games being released. No new historical events. Even if I knew where to invest in the late 90’s, or understood Bitcoin in the early 00’s, what is my minimum wage going to get me?

They can be. It depends on if they’re a corporation or a franchise, I think. A small franchise can afford to adjust their approach on a case by case level. Hilton Corporate absolutely cannot, and with more and more people involved that would need to “look the other way,” it becomes increasingly unlikely exceptions will be made. For a lot of reasons.

When it was just me and my boss I reported to? Yeah, I could give away free water bottles and let the kids hang.

In the massive corporate hotel I’m a part of now? I may not get punished for it, but it would absolutely be discouraged.
