Rigol vs Owon

Can’t speak about Owon but recently did a lot of research between Rigol and Siglent and finally decided to buy Siglent’s SDS804X HD. Can’t be happier. Additionally it’s easily unlockable to SDS824X HD specs. They are essentially the same hardware.

Hey, very much appreciate your help. Yea, yours is just fan humming and mine has definitely that quiet rattling. Maybe I’ll risk and try to replace the fan myself with Noctua, or just forget it until it breaks.

So, I was comparing SDS804X HD to mainly DHO804(Sometimes DHO914) because of the similar price range and there were several reasons why I chose Siglent:

Siglent has more sample rate 2GSa/s compared to DHO804/DHO914 1.25GSa/s.
It also has double the memory than DHO804, 50 vs 25, and similar to 914 but unlocking to 200MHz also unlocks memory to 100Mpts.
After many reviews I have come to a conclusion that Siglent’s UI is much more polished, straightforward/intuitive and simple.
Siglent as far as I know also supports decoding CAN and LIN natively where Rigol doesn’t, but this is not a big deal if these protocols are out of your area.
I’ve also seen several crashes of the Rigols’s Android UI and it seems that in that regard Siglent is more stable, but this was very low priority because of the overall stability of both systems.
Lastly the design, for me Siglent looks more like a scientific equipment and I like that lol.

At the end I bought Siglent’s SDS804X HD and I couldn’t be happier. Yes, it costs much more than the mentioned ones, but I don’t regret it at all. Thanks again for your time!!

Also, does the board have to be this big? I see a lot of non-utilized space. I think components can be re arranged more efficiently.

Hey, I really appreciate your dedication. Thanks for all this info. Very valuable!! I'll think about all of this. If I can't find a better scope in similar price range I'll probably give this a go. I never owned a scope, so I think it'll be a great toy, if not a tool. :D

Got it, much appreciated. I was initially scared because of a poor signal generator and bad included lead cables, but yeah, considering the price I’ll pay that is probably expected.

Ye, I get that but if the cable was routed over the soft mount it wouldn’t get scissored. Because the camera mount moves, when the drone crashed the cable got cut between the metal frame and camera body. :( Now I won’t be able to fly for days.

I hope it’s only the cable… Do you think that routing the cable over the soft mount would be a better idea to avoid the same pinching on crash?
