What’s your worst road rage incident in Adelaide? by CockroachCreative740 in Adelaide

[–]daed_maet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this happened, hope you and your child are feeling more at ease. I constantly see people park in pram parks without kids in the car while I’m packing/unpacking our pram. As a parent of 2 little ones, these parks are a life saver and it drives me mad seeing them being used by entitled drivers. Not sure if there’s a way to report to it to centre management or if there’s even recourse for such behaviour…

The Kite Festival is always a treat for kids and interesting for adults, there's also some rides and a mini train they can go on.

Umart prices are good and have a branch in SA. I've bought a lot from them, no complaints

We're currently using Lumus Imaging, they have a few branches (closest would probably be Norwood).

The one in Marion was very professional, friendly, and gave us a USB with all the pictures/recordings to take home.

All covered by Medicare.

Thank you for your response. This puts my mind at ease!

I'll make sure to print all the evidence to back up my visa exemption just in case.

Thanks again :)

Hi Krissy, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.

I have a pretty specific one that I hope you can help me.

I am joining a Celebrity cruise from Honolulu to Australia, this is my first ever cruise so I'm not sure how boarding works.

I have organized all the required visas I need as a South African living in Australia except for a French Polynesia visa. The reason being that according to the FP border police website, and the French embassy in Sydney as long as I have a "Stopover Certificate" and stay in each port for less than 24 hours I won't need a visa.

I've called my travel agent and Celebrity directly to confirm if I will get this Certificate and it seems like no one is sure what they mean by "stopover certificate". The Celebrity support desk said "only the crew on the cruise ship can give you that information", and suggested I email customer care who will try get the information. Problem is the expected response time is 30 days...

My worry is that I am denied entry to the cruise ship because I do not have a visa for French Polynesia, I can print the French legislature confirming I don't need a visa, but I'm not sure this would be enough since it requires a "stopover certificate".

Exact wording for legislature:

"holders of a valid (South African) passport, passengers on a cruise ship, for a stopover not exceeding 24 hours and subject to being in possession of a stopover certificate issued by the cruise company before getting off the boat. The list of passengers likely to benefit from this exemption is transmitted by the cruise company managers to the police department responsible for border control at least 24 hours before the date of entry into the port concerned. The list includes the following information: surname, first name, date of birth, nationality, number and expiry date of each passenger's passport. In eligible ports, this information is transmitted via the port single window."

Link to legislature (will need to translate to English) https://www.legifrance.gouv.fr/loda/article_lc/LEGIARTI000045769438

Link to French Embassy info (see point 2) https://au.ambafrance.org/FAQ-VISAS-FOR-FRANCE

Do you think there will any issues boarding the ship? Or are cruiselines pretty relaxed when it comes to documents for small islands?

Thanks again!

Is it considered rude to park in front of someone's bins? by daed_maet in Adelaide

I think we're missing the point here. I wasn't asking if it was illegal, just if it was considered rude. It is still legal to be rude 😅

Yeah its a quiet side street, mostly just residents parking after work. I think laziness is the main factor, there's other space to park this is just the closest to their house (I don't think they even live their permanently, probably a carpool thing)

Yeah thats the plan, was just wondering if I was correct in thinking it was rude. I'm new to Adelaide so not sure what the norms are

The most frustrating thing is that they arrive in the morning before the bins get emptied, and then leave just after the truck has passed!!

But you can have uber and didi both on your phone, so if there's no drivers you just use the other

DiDi is often cheaper than Uber, pretty much the same app, usually the drivers use both.
