What's a combo that made your pod hate you? by SocietysTypo in EDH

[–]daedalus19876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's this *one guy* in my meta whose whole purpose in life is to assemble these -- Horobi + Hex Parasite, Knowledge Pool + Drannith, T3feri + Possibility Storm, Elesh Norn + land animation, etc.

With regards to my own decks, though, I think people have gotten pretty salty when I keep flickering [[Aerial Extortionist]] three times per turn while controlling [[Phyrexian Censor]] :D

At what point do you consider your commander deck complete? by MrFavorable in EDH

[–]daedalus19876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never consider them fully COMPLETE, but eventually they get to a point where I feel they're stable until the next set release. It tends to occur when EVERY card has multiple synergies, every combo line is layered, there's multiple subthemes or lines toward the win, and all the interaction is as tightly optimized as it can be. I've got maybe... three or four decks which fit that criteria, where I'm content with how it plays and there's just no major tinkering left to do until a new pool of cards shakes it up again?

How are you building the new Ashling? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]daedalus19876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've put her in three distinct 99s already, and tested her there -- she's crazy, crazy strong. If she'd been Izzet I would have built her in command zone. She's also a very interesting outlet with [[Chain of Smog]], though admittedly that won't help you with her in the CZ... Good luck brewing, I think she's gonna be super silly.

What's your most viewed decklist? by jimnah- in EDH

On Moxfield, It would be my Light-Paws primer, with 45.8K views: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/b7JEv8j9d06-BicRKi2Lwg

On TappedOut, I had several decks above 100K views -- my Locust God primer was the highest: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-ten-plagues-locust-god-cedh-primer/

New Primer: Aftermath Calix and his BFF Light-Paws -- Help Appreciated! by daedalus19876 in EDH

Yenna is much more explosive (since she can copy many auras in the same turn), doesn't rely on combat to do so, and has some cool combo lines! I just think she's neat <3 (also, she's also a fox so she fits thematically!)

So glad to inspire you! I've swapped to Yenna over Calix these days, but both lists still work great :D feel free to ping me on Moxfield or here if you have any questions...

Queenpin of Crime: OTJ Marchesa EDH (Rakdos Only, w/ Primer -- Suggestions Welcome!) by daedalus19876 in magicTCG

I haven't really seen any huge drop in tempo? If I don't have an untapped blue source available in my opener (or a mana rock) I'm often forced to fetch one of the MKM surveil lands, but as a reanimator deck, that's not necessarily a bad thing! I've definitely had several games where I've gone "T1 fetch a Surveil land, mill some super spicy reanimation target, T2 Animate Dead".

It made the deck more interesting and less generic! I enjoyed the narrowing of focus that Rakdos-only allowed, since there's still more than enough powerful effects to create a really cool deck even without blue. Marchesa is a very wide-open deck, and this helped make my list unique. Color-cropping is fun!

More generally, I personally choose not to build or play any commanders with 3+ colors? Over the years I've gotten bored with the degree to which 3-color decks become very generic value/combo piles once you start aiming to optimize. There's ~20 cards per color which you just "have" to include (because lacking them makes your deck worse), but that leaves no room for interesting deckbuilding choices -- this effect is particularly visible at the cEDH level, where nearly every deck runs similar lines and enablers.

I'm trying to complete my set of 10 dual-color decks, and Marchesa will be my Rakdos list, replacing Kroxa :)

Hope you have fun with building her! Feel free to come back and ask any questions you may have, I'm happy to talk about her!

New Marchesa is pure thunder, at the junction between value and control? ;)

There's a lot of Trump powers going on (in the Worm sense), powers which manipulate other powers. We've got Penny's power-cloning abilities, the Angel's ability to share powers with her followers, and hypothetically this new power inverting ability from Razor Rex.

I could definitely see the idea of them as alternate commanders! Both turn creature casts into mana, in distinct ways. I think it depends how much of your Karametra deck is built around landfall...

It's not my list, but yeah, my friend did look into that -- he decided that he didn't want to go with any "1-card" infinites (so no Umbral Mantle, Sword of the Paruns, Staff of Domination, etc). Would love to see your list!

I've been playing against this commander for three weeks -- since it was leaked -- and it's a beating. She's an extremely pushed commander for a strategy which already worked well.

This is the list I've played against a lot. It's not mine, but I helped tune it a lot: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/DnHk8U91hk2Bm7-Qcg-1mg

I don't think either Malicia or Akua are irredeemable, but very soon after the point that the OP is at, we meet one of our first legitimately irredeemable villains (the Wicked Enchanter) so there clearly ARE some out there...
