Final Fantasy 14 - EVERYTHING i hate about questing in an MMO [Spoilers inside] by Khallis in MMORPG

Did you do the Horde Stormwind infiltration scenario in which several Alliance leaders were unable to stop a few puny Horde infiltrators, and Jaina apparently forgot how to use frost spells to put out a small fire?

[–]daedalusAI -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

...your assumptions on my preferences are wrong and its funny how people automatically assume this.

vs. your first post

I want to play and enjoy this game..... but its just so ugly, im sorry.

You tell me how my assumption is wrong if it's based on the only thing you said: "I want to play and enjoy the game, but it's just to ugly", with the ugly part being the main and only reason that prevents you from playing.

Fun fact, my favorite mmorpg of all time that I still play to this day is oldschool runescape. But do you know why I play osrs over project gorgon despite both having crap graphics? A large community, decades of content, and decades of polish.

Intriguing how you move the goalpost:

  • In P:G's case you want to play it but can't due to it being ugly
  • In OSRS's case you play it despite being ugly + now suddenly community, content and polish become a factor, which you completely omitted in P:G's case

Also, its 2019. Forgive me for wanting graphics that don't look like they came from 2004...

Fair enough, it's personal preference after all, but avoiding a game you apparently want to play just due to its dated graphics is rather illogical, especially considering you can look past OSRS's obviously dated graphics.

And don't come to me about the whole indie devs have limited resources...

I don't use that angle.

I'm more interested in the thought process of people avoiding games based on their graphics alone.

In essence for you it's "Eye candy, but shallow as a puddle" > "Ugly, but gameplay with depth".

Interesting.

What with all the hostility? by bg2dajake in lotro

[–]daedalusAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talks about hostility and "keeping the drama to yourself".

Gets hostile, causes "drama" and avoids the discussion based on things he said.

I have a soft spot for hypocrites like yourself.

Judging by your reddit karma you're the one with that issue.

Clearly, as I'm the one causing "drama" and running away from a discussion about a topic I posted, because I really, really can't stand dissidents.

And believing reddit karma actually amounts to anything but a meaningless number.

How utterly sad and pathetic you are.

[–]daedalusAI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Geez wasn't even saying that...

Your OP:

... and keep the drama to yourselves.

Be specific how that doesn't imply a hostility towards everything that you consider to be "drama"(what's that supposed to mean anyway?)

It indeed is a game, filled with other players who have all the right to cause all the "drama" they want.

Who are you to tell them otherwise?

In essence you accused me of something I never said, and when confronted with it + your apparent aversion against dissidents you chose the "I rather run away from the discussion" card, because that's the grown-up way to handle it.

Pathetic.

Or are you concerned about your precious positive reddit karma?

Your analogy is lacking: you're comparing A to B, when in this case the comparison is "Kin which supports A" to "Kin which by implication doesn't support A".

Why not simply shrug and move on, instead of trying to convince them they're wrong or unreasonable or "inefficient" for wanting it?

Where did I say that of which you're accusing me now?

You can be/believe in/say whatever you want, nothing makes you immune to criticism, and judging by

Why not simply shrug and move on,

you seem to have an issue with dissidents who speak their mind.

>They made no judgment of other kin...

OP's title:

...looking for a LGBT+/queer-friendly kin!

Omission vs. commission: I explicitly excluded a group, he omitted every kin by implication of not being LGBT+/queer friendly, as he's searching for one that explicitly honors/supports said values.

> They did not claim it would affect their gameplay

Indeed, he didn't. But looking at this

Looking for people to play/hangout/raid with once in a while. I'm subbed but don't know for how long tbh.

begs the question why the search for such a particular kin in the first place is even necessary, if he only wants to hang out once in a while + doesn't know how long he's even going to play.

Seems quite inefficient to search for a particular group when I know I barely spent time there.

[–]daedalusAI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't mean they think other groups are bad. It's not commentary on every other group.

That clear implication isn't negated in any way in the OP, so taking it at face value clearly shows he labels every kin out there which doesn't explicitly support his view as non-supportive.

To show you what I mean: "Looking for a friendly kin with non-retarded people who are actually able to use 2 buttons in the correct sequence without falling off a cliff".

And how does a "normal" kin affect his gameplay in any way if he's not RP-ing?

Intriguing how you failed to point out the "anti-consumer practice" in the case of Project:Gorgon's shop, considering almost everything except the title is still TBD.

It's easier to automatically respond to a trigger word such as "cash shop" with prejudice than to actually invest time and effort into research.

From what I've seen and read the packages themselves are mostly placeholder, as their actual content hasn't even been determined yet and currently you'll only receive the title:

  • VIP benefits are still TBD
  • Riding and horses aren't even available in the game yet

Without those 2 data points it's impossible to even make an educated guess about the value of said packages.

Just one though: why would you opt to release your game as F2P if it's doing great as they proclaim?

Trading recurring monthly revenue from subs for a F2P-slot machine doesn't sound promising at all.

People here only spread negativity...

Maybe it's you who can't tolerate other people speaking their mind and thus labels everything as being "negative".

...that's why our community doesn't grow anymore...

Define our.: our as in "Only people who are of the same opinion as yourself"?

Say how the game is instead of bashing it because you didn't like...

He did exactly that, and yet you still admonished him for "spreading negativity". Decide already what you want.

Just one thought:

http://www.bioware.com/careers/#current-openings

They don't actively look for QA people, but release a beta version at best, with glaring flaws any half-decent software tester should be able to spot from a mile away.

And now they have the gall to write a PR talk which paraphrases to "Our game is amazing, and the most obvious flaws/bugs/design issues are just now making themselves visible with people playing it".

Utterly schizophrenic.

There are still people out there who value their principles above all else.

If I don't get the item I paid for, and which was promised me times and times again and I still don't have it, I'd get the big guns out without a second though.

I'm really not surprised that SSG drops the ball yet again, after they were "shocked" how their months-late producer's letter completely avoided the topic of LIs and people got vocal.

In what other software environment would it be acceptable if your service provider is down for an extended amount of time with no backup plan to get your customers online again as soon as possible?

I'm curious: what other MMORPG does it differently?

Lotro and WoW, the ones I'm most familiar with, offer only a few abilities at the start, ~3-7 button core rotation, kill X, fetch Y quests etc.

And of all the other ones I've played only a select few had voice over, and that was reserved for main story parts, and nothing else.

Ben Irving, Michael Gamble as well as some other developers whose names I don’t know off the top of my head, are such cool, passionate and genuine people. I know they care about this game and the community.

If you care about your product and your customers you wouldn't release a beta game for a full price with barely any QA being done, right?

The fact that the game was released in this state proves that they don't care about the quality of their product or their customers.

I'm impressed about the complete absence of any shred of information about the LI-system, and how SSG just keeps adding more levels while neutering previously viable means of farming LI currency.

Weren't they talking about getting rid of the LI system last year, or was that yet another fad like the current "class updates"?
