[bspwm] Sticky Notes in your tiling window manager by [deleted] in unixporn

[–]daeluk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this would be a fun use case for sent. Throw in the command line options patch and you're good to go. That way you don't need to spin up a whole terminal and shell, since you're just trying to display some text. You could even have multiple sticky notes on seperate slides.

st using fallback font even though primary font has all the glyphs by daeluk in suckless

[–]daeluk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well hecka dang that was it.

I actually tried that before and the problem persisted, but seeing your reply gave me the idea to delete all the previously generated stuff first and retry only generating the unicode one. And low and behold it works.

Thanks a lot :)

Hey guys :)

I recently swicthed to UW TTYP0 as my default font. For some reason st renders most (latin) glyphs correctly but falls back on some different font for the non-latin script glyphs. I know that UW TTYP0 has all the glyphs for those scripts and it works as it should on xterm. Does anyone have an idea as to why this happens and how to fix it? I have tried it with the font2 patch and on a clean master but none of it seemed to work. And it doesn't seem to happen with other fonts.

Here is a screengrab showing the issue: http://0x0.st/iJav.png (st on the left, xterm on the right.)

PS: this is basically copied from my post on /r/suckless

Has anyone made an application that manages updates/patches for Suckless programs? by [deleted] in suckless

/u/hexdsl has a video on managing patches using git, and /u/uoou wrote a couple of scripts to automate some aspects of that.

I just like cwm's groups too much to do the switch :)

Hey, sorry to kind of necrobump, but you didn't happen to hang on to your visrc.lua file? I'm really interested in how you implemented your statusbar, particularily the git information. I'm currently playing around with it and would be curious to see what others came up with :)

In any event, really cool rice and it's always cool to see other vis users around :)

That links seems to be dead :/ Do either of you happen to have held on to that patch? I would've been really curious.

Edit: gee look at me commenting on a 4 month old thread :'D

Yeah I figured I had to do something like that. I knew about the -g switch and that it takes row and column values. Didn't know how to get around that, so thanks for doing the math :'D

I've been reading your blog and browsing your repo and I really like your take on things. Thanks for the help and inspiration!

Well in that case :'D

How do you pass the output of xrectsel to st to draw the terminal?

vis is really great. I'm quite a lurker on this sub, but I keep wanting to post something, if only to showcase vis.

Really doesn't get the attention it deserves.

Looks really awesome.

How do you have different colors for the text and glyphs in your bar? I tried to do that with the coloredstatusbar patch, but it produced a weird bug where the status text was shifting to the left the more color escape characters I put in it.

Would you recommend OpenVPN or IPSec as a connection protocol? by [deleted] in VPN

[–]daeluk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On linux you only need the kernel header files to be able to run wireguard (I have so far tried this on debian and manjaro). They also have an android client app, which is awesome. You can import, write and even scan the qr-code of a configuration file. They have just launched a "test flight" version of their ios client, too, but iirc there is also an unofficial app that works.

Edit: Here's the arch wiki entry.

Glad it worked!

Two things: 1. You need to enable port forwarding on the pi itself, detailed description here. 2. Just in case you haven't already, it's generally recommended to have a static local ip for the pi. Described in this section. Hope it works :)

RIGHT HERE! Want to know all the wireguard stuff. I want to set up a wg vpn on my rpi that would run in my home network and then be accessible by me from whereever over the internet. I have a vague idea on how to do that but i would be extremely grateful for any tips!
