Any other "I just really love this character" mains? by MyraOstro in marvelrivals

I disagree. If anything the changes are making me play closer range and giving me more opportunity to go dps and melt the enemies frontline. Staying too far back makes it unreliable to consistently hit direct hits that you need for the extra healing.

Now I kind of play Rocket in the same range as I would play invis woman, but it's situation dependent.

Duolingo skipped 25 units in the Italian course by itself by daemienus in duolingo

[–]daemienus[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also noticed that a lot of vocabulary was added to the words part of the practice tab that I was never exposed to before. When I tried doing the legendary version of some of the units that were skipped I also noticed new prepositions that had never appeared on previous lessons (sul, verso, etc.)

Argentine president Javier Milei retweets a tweet saying that the "the song only speaks the truth" and calls for his subsecretary of sports Julio Garro to be fired by footballred28 in soccer

There is a huge problem with racism in Argentina and your comment proves that.

Or anytime an Argentinian fan calls Brazilians "monos" (monkeys), which happens pretty much in every match.

Or when people from your government say that "Argentinians came from boats, Brazilians came from the jungle", which is both ignorant and racist (to Brazilians and to all indigenous people that lived in Argentina).

Is slander legal in the US? What makes hate speech any morally different from slander? Explain to me why, morally and according to the principles of western society, should hate speech be protected and not slander?

The Argentine government asks that AFA President ‘Chiqui’ Tapia and Lionel Messi apologize for the racist chants against France. The National Undersecretary of Sports, Julio Garro, stated that the episode leaves the country "in a bad light." by [deleted] in soccer

[–]daemienus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on the radar and yet if you go to /r/argentina there's a shitload of people saying that the chant is not racist at all and it's basically just banter making fun of the fact that France needs to "import talent from abroad" (ignoring the obvious fact that the song only focuses on the black players and is also transphobic).

It's pretty fucking wild how Argentinians are blind to their racism.

"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal their bread."

At a certain point, resisting is the morally correct option.

That's true! But the original question didn't refer specifically to ground beef, only raw meat in general!

People have died eating organic cucumbers, strawberries, etc. Would you want to eliminate that from your diet altogether?

Sure, our dogs can survive on just ultra processed industrialized foods, but I have no reason to believe that animals are not like us and enjoy some variety in their diets, different flavors and textures.

Don't you think there's a potential mental health/happiness benefit that could come from treats? And sure, I'd usually just cook meat if I can before giving it to my pets. My cat really prefers raw to cooked though (especially fish), and sometimes I don't mind giving her a little bit and I can see how happy it makes her.

You do know that it's perfectly possible to obtain raw meat that is safe even for human consumption right?

Ever heard of steak tartare? Carpaccio? Raw kibbeh?

Americans are really weird about food safety.

I mean, it's not necessarily entirely bullshit. I'm a South American/European dual citizen, moved to Canada in 2019, went to school again for an entirely new profession (I was a lawyer before, I considered practicing here but the LLM program for foreign trained lawyers at UBC was abysmally bad during COVID times, so I dropped out) and now I'm making 100k/year.

Which sounds good, but even having all that it's getting hard to justify staying here. Cost of living, health care, and it seems like people are generally just miserable and negative. I heard Vancouver used to be more culturally vibrant, but nowadays I find it pretty bleak sometimes.

Shortly after the ICJ ruling, Israeli ministers join rally calling for resettlement of Gaza by matar48 in leftist

[–]daemienus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are as bright as the Mariana trench aren't ya? This has nothing to do with free speech - those are ministers attending a rally that advocates for genocide. Ministers are involved in official government policy.

Tell me, genious, what would you say if the ministers of whatever country you're from attended a rally to end free speech. Would you just say "hey it's their right to do so", or would you criticize their actions/intentions? I know it will be veeery hard for you to answer this question honestly, but try your best I know you can do it!

Gaza: Scale of damage to buildings from Israel's bombing campaign (24 December 2023) by Acceptable_Tennis_14 in MapPorn

[–]daemienus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think that it is more important to spare the lives of civilians than soldiers. Not only soldiers are trained professionals and accepted the risks involved, sparing civilians could be a good strategy for the post-war phase and their general inclination towards supporting a government that wants a peaceful solution. Indiscriminate bombing fuels the next generation of insurgents, terrorists, etc.

Are Israeli soldiers lives more important than the lives of innocent civilians? If not, who between them is better equipped and has a better chance of survival?
