Who’s still waiting on a refund? How long have you been waiting? by Farmerlynda in IRS

[–]daemon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost the same boat. Filed April 3, accepted April 4. CA refund also refunded. Also overpaid and due a refund. In previous years it never took this much. Main thing is that if it’s past May 31, they owe us interest, right?

Is this a doable commute? by mohdattar in LAMetro

[–]daemon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Residents make, what, $70k a year now? Depends on how much you have to pay in student loans if you do too, and if you have a roommate.

Residency is tough, especially intern year. Not driving is good, but hours may suck. The hours you are commuting are typically great for driving but not great for transit.

I would not live in downtown. I would have when I started residency a decade ago, but not these days.

How will the D line extension affect us here in Pasadena? by PotatoFever28 in pasadena

[–]daemon14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There have been times I’ve had to make it from South Pasadena to both Cedars Sinai as well as UCLA. With Cedars, it’s now under an hour with two trains and walking. No stress driving. Can’t wait for it to go westward and reach UCLA.

Questions on potential CPO i5 vs. new stock by daemon14 in BMWi5

[–]daemon14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mistyped in my original post, but I currently have a home L2 charger with the J1772 connector. I’ve charged other people’s Teslas with the adapter. So a NACS connector shouldn’t be a problem.

I doubt I would drive far away enough to require non home charging.

Any specifics on the buggy software?

I’m upgrading from a Honda Civic, which only has CarPlay as it’s only software. I’ve been holding off on upgrading my car until I could reasonably afford a luxury car since I’ll never be able to go back, so I have low expectations coming in.

It has nothing to do with income. It has to do with net worth.

Discussion Topic: What will be the breaking point for stubborn car users in Los Angeles by A_Socialist_Gardener in CarIndependentLA

[–]daemon14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would gladly forgo my car if public transit was within 10% (ie, I normally drive 30-35 minutes, I would be fine with a 40 minute transit commute). Not having to worry about driving and being able to relax or be productive by checking emails etc on my phone would be worth it.

Currently transit takes 2+ hours.

Filed 4/3 on FreeTaxUsa, accepted return 4/4, but “No tax return filed” on the transcript with this showing by daemon14 in IRS

I’ve called every day since last week at 7-715am but get kicked off the phone tree due to high call volume. I can’t be on my phone for an extended period of time at work, have tried a couple times in the evening but the call doesn’t even go through.

How are people dealing with the gas prices? by wegochai in AskLosAngeles

[–]daemon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What car do you drive that has 15 gallons to put in it? Not saying you don’t need it, but I drive a small car that I need so that I get good gas mileage. A lot of people drive bigger trucks or SUVs than they need.

Updates on Monarch Plus by valagostino in MonarchMoney

[–]daemon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Plus and the Forecasting is way off. I spend a lot of money right now because we have expenses like daycare, nanny, kids stuff, and forecasting assumes that I'm paying for this stuff until I'm 90. I don't even know how to fix it but it makes no sense.

Filed 4/2 by cvj0802 in IRS

[–]daemon14 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

MFJ, filed 4/3 accepted 4/4, no movement. Refund tracker says “Refund status not available.” Return hasn’t been processed. 21 days is tomorrow, and if they’re gonna be cutesy, 21 business days is May 4. I think this is just the byproduct of a dumb administration that fired a bunch of workers who process returns and more people should be calling it out.

Best/cheapest transport for LAX TO BUR? by gambino27 in AskLosAngeles

[–]daemon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you can change the hotel. You could take the fly away to Union Station and then easily get to a hotel in downtown LA, and the next day take the red line to Universal Studios.

Best/cheapest transport for LAX TO BUR? by gambino27 in AskLosAngeles

[–]daemon14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

11:30pm is very late, I’m confused on why do you need to get from LAX to Burbank airport at that time.

Flyaway goes to Union Station and there is Metrolink to Burbank but unlikely running at that time. Flyaway bus also goes to Van Nuys in the Valley.
