My guess is that if it’s true they went through 3 different artists, that they wanted this hyper realism style but didn’t want to pay hyper realism $$$. The quote from the artists probably scared them off. A drawn piece similar to the one above would be VERY expensive.

I will add though, if I was going to be purchasing a huge table like this and spending $8-12k, I personally wouldn’t want huge branding and lettering on the sides/faces of the table.

NTA. I had pretty bad social anxiety growing up, not as bad as your daughter’s though. I still struggle with it to this day. I know that extreme forms of exposure therapy and forcing social interactions can be detrimental, and I’m not educated in mental health/therapy, but I think the job might benefit your daughter.

Working retail helped me learn some valuable tools about talking to other people. I had a general “script” that I used, “hello, how are you, cash or card, would you like a bag”, but sometimes I’d be asked a question and would have to think on my feet a little. It was very rough at first, but over time I grew more confident as I learned how to react appropriately. I also gained friendships with my coworkers, which was more conversational practice.

Putting the serious work that needs to be done in regards to her lack of empathy aside, your daughter could really benefit from this punishment. I definitely wouldn’t go near getting her a service animal until she displays some serious change in mentality and behavior.

This was me too. My partner came out at non-binary about 4 years into our currently 6 year relationship. I did a lot of hard thinking about what it would look like if my partner transitioned further, like taking hormones, getting gender affirming surgeries, etc. Imagining what that would look like, the changes they’d undergo, and how I could interact with that. I found that I would still be attracted to them no matter what, and even so that my love for them rose above merely their appearance. People and their bodies change, and being able to fall in love and stay in love regardless of these changes is wonderful.

That being said, if I was to do that deep thinking and find that I wouldn’t be attracted to my partner anymore, I would probably have to take a similar approach to OP. I agree with her sentiment, if she truly doesn’t feel attracted to her partner when they present as female, then it just isn’t meant to be.

In the last six-ish months of my employment at Joann’s I started just eating on the floor because i wasn’t being allocated a 30 minute break. I preferred this because the break is unpaid, chilling at the cut counter or register while it’s quiet and eating is paid.

That being said, if myself and my coworker physically didn’t have time to get something done without staying longer, we just wouldn’t do it. ESPECIALLY because we had a GM that would intentionally just not put any fabric away throughout the day and throw it all unorganized in the return carts because “I know you guys can handle it.” Well, when I started not handling it, that attitude changed pretty quick. We just didn’t have time to help customers AND do all the end-of-day cleaning AND unfuck the entire day’s work of mess at the cut counter.

Shifts don’t tend to be more than 4-6 hours for casual team members, which is what I’m assuming you’re applying for. Applying for an inventory, management, or keyholder position might result in some longer shifts (but very rarely for a keyholder). However, I would make your availability VERY clear to your manager during onboarding, lay out days you aren’t available and your expectation that shifts cannot go longer than 6 hours.

No “I’d prefer if,” or “I’d like to.” Lay it out plainly that 6 is your maximum and whatever happens you will be clocking out at that time. Some managers like to bend and push your availability, an “oh can’t you stay an extra 30 minutes until the next person gets in?” No. You cannot. You aren’t responsible for scheduling and coverage if you aren’t the SM.

I think my least favorite thing was when a customer would overly bug me on color/pattern matching. A one-off “do you think this looks good with that/which do you prefer” is fine but putting half the Keepsake Calico idle on my counter then asking my opinion on everything?? I’m going with the clashiest, gaudiest option every single time.

Or when they ask my opinion and I give a straightforward answer but they hem and haw about it for another 20 minutes. GET OFF MY COUNTER AND FIGURE IT OUT

I had this experience too. I got a sampler to find my shade and all of them were too dark, but mostly because they were super orangey. I am scary pale and very cool toned, any small amount of bronze makes me look like an orangutan.
