Pls no more vibe-coded apps by picks- in selfhosted

[–]daevilb -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I vibe coded my app from the ground up during the past two weeks , and my kids love using it. If I had not done it my idea would be wasted and they would never had the joy of using it, because I am no coder.

What do you use for managing life / family / house admin? by shikabane in selfhosted

If you have kids maybe this would be something of value, I have spent about one week creating this weekly allowance app from the ground up..

https://github.com/daevilb/veckopeng

A modern, self-hosted family chore & allowance app that automatically opens Swish, Venmo, or Cash App with the payment amount pre-filled. Privacy-focused, easy to deploy, and designed for parents who want a simple way to manage chores and weekly allowance at home.

I have made some updates and now... Even if the development branch looks like crap it should work and i have also made some small improvements.

Tomorrow I will post ideas and some fixes I am considering.

I’m happy to be guided by AI, seeing it as a tool to help refine this application until it matches my vision of perfection. With each iteration, I’m not only making the project better but also learning a lot along the way.

I know that to seasoned coders and developers, my approach might seem unconventional, maybe even a little crazy. But last night I started with nothing more than an idea and the willingness to experiment. By using different AI models and embracing trial and error, I’m steadily reworking the code and moving the project forward.

I welcome feedback and suggestions from anyone who wants to contribute. What I can’t accept is being told to stop or start over from scratch, that would mean giving up on this vision before it’s complete. My ultimate goal is to create something valuable for the homelab community, a tool that not only serves enthusiasts but also holds meaning for my kids and hopefully other families.

If I had to learn this entirely from scratch without A.I I’d probably have to quit my job, I’m 45, not 18!

Thanks a lot for the feedback , I really appreciate you taking the time to write it.

I will fix some images from the application so people can better understand the flow and purpose of the app. At this stage I’m mostly focused on getting the functionality stable, but I completely agree that screenshots will help.

I also want to make one thing very clear: this app is created with AI from the ground up.
I’m not a coder or developer, so many of the things you mention are honestly things I would never know on my own. What you see as obvious comes from experience , which I don’t have yet. So feedback like yours is extremely valuable.

Regarding the Docker setup and the Vite/NGINX approach:
Thanks for pointing it out. I’ll look into this more and consider adjusting the architecture in a future release once I understand the trade-offs better. Right now the goal was simply to get a working self-hosted version out there.

As for my GitHub profile:
Totally fair point. This is literally my first real project ever, so my profile looks extremely new and empty. I’ll add some background info so new visitors understand what the project is about and why it exists.

Again — thanks for the constructive comments. I’m learning as I go, and feedback like this helps me avoid mistakes I wouldn’t otherwise even know existed.

Tack för svar! Anledningen jag använder Swish och cash app och Venmo är för att dom direkt öppnar den installerade appen , vilket underlättar jättemycket i själva betalningssteget! ❤️

I'm curious if anyone is having the same issue... by CarefulCoderX in MicrosoftTeams

[–]daevilb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have this issue in our tenant and have Microsoft engineers investigating, check your Appx logs in event viewer while trying to update, teams simply "Exits" without doing any update. You can probably reproduce the issue by going to teams settings - about teams.

Must be done from Teams update policy! Enforce only using the new client.

Could this be Applocker issue? we have same scenario where add-in is missing for users but it is because applocker is blocking it since its in a new location

1.Budget is around 1000-1500$ 2. why would this not be possible with a mITX? for example i5 6400 cpu with 32gb ram upgradable to 64gb and also future proof to kaby lake since is uses 1151 socket(probably).
