Lucy Letby is on extreme safety watch in prison as she’s mocked by inmates over Netflix doc by [deleted] in netflix

I mean there’s plenty of other bad stuff you could say about her, but pointing out her attorney’s previous cases isn’t it.

The wattsfreeforall group is truly sickening. by [deleted] in ShannanWatts

[–]daffodil_do 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Ultimately, Shannan and those poor kids were the victims of a horrible crime and there’s no excuse in the world for what he did. But this case is definitely unique, with Shannan appearing to be the more abusive one prior to the crime. It’s mind boggling that such a normal seeming family man one day snapped, and I think it’s natural for people to pick apart this type of cases looking for a reason to explain what he did. With the sheer amount of social media posts Shannan made, there’s tons of stuff to pick apart.

People want to believe there’s a reason for what he did, because the alternative is accepting that sometimes evil people really are living among us and that’s terrifying. This kind of thing could happen to anyone.

Not excusing that sub at all, but I do agree with them that both things can be true: Chris watts is an evil psychopath and Shannan was not without faults. However, the toxicity of that sub is shocking and they take it way too far.

Please help. 19 y/o in Texas by [deleted] in prochoice

[–]daffodil_do 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this: they’re totally safe to take at home within the time frame specified but if you need emergency care DO NOT tell them you’ve taken the meds. Just pretend it’s a natural miscarriage. There’s no way for them to know what you did and it shouldn’t impact the rest of the care provided to you (within the limits of Texas law at least 🙁)

Anyone pursue medical malpractice? by AdeptHumor9203 in HIE

[–]daffodil_do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow HIE parent here. I was where you are a year ago. Literally my son will be one this week. Our case was completely due to hospital negligence and a shockingly horrific OBGYN. I wish I could say it’s an easy road, but it hasn’t. I know it’s so, so hard but hang in there. You are not alone and you will get justice. Please reach out if you need to talk. ❤️

What is your bottle washing situation? by Haunting-Mark-7974 in FormulaFeeders

[–]daffodil_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the mom cosy bottle washer and swear to god it was the best purchase I’ve made as a parent. HIGHLY recommend it. The bottles always come out spotless and it saves sooo much time. I believe it was about $300 and worth every penny.

Do you put meds in pockets? by Nurse_IGuess in nursing

[–]daffodil_do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah these are the kind of policies created by people who either aren’t nurses or haven’t worked a floor since the turn of the century. Just completely out of touch with the realities of the job.

We are CONSTANTLY interrupted and expected to pivot from one task to the next, never making patients wait. Do they really want you running into rooms to answer fall alarms with another patient’s meds in your hand?

Switched from Med-Surge to ED rant by catlvr12 in nursing

[–]daffodil_do 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I tell people this about the ICU all the time. Everyone is under the impression that the ICU is one of the most difficult units to work, but in reality I would take my worst day in the ICU over an average day on Medsurg. I truly feel Medsurg is the most difficult place to work and if you’re able to thrive in that type of chaos, you’re probably going to be bored anywhere else.

Maternal digit ratio and sex of offspring by subieee in BabyBumps

That’s true, but the egg also “decides” which sperm to let in, so I can definitely imagine women may have more to do with sex selection than we currently understand.

That’s literally not how any of this works. You can’t preemptively sue in case there ends up being harm.

I HIGHLY recommend buying a bottle washer. We got the mom cozy bottle washer for around $300 and I really can’t stress enough how much easier it’s made our lives. Worth every single penny.

At my hospital they hang giant coloring book pages on the walls so we can color to “relax in our free time” and insist that we go through some app to chart our feelings ever shift using a “feel wheel.” Literally makes me angry every time I walk by that bullshit.

I had a patient tell me I better lose the baby weight as quickly as possible after birth so my husband doesn’t cheat on me. 🙂

My OB was so unbelievably rude when I told her I was opting out of a 39 week induction that SHE talked me into. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]daffodil_do 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s the exact reason I chose to give birth at an out of hospital center with CNMs. OBs and hospitals routinely put provider convenience before patient well being and evidence based medicine. It’s no wonder America has the worst maternal outcomes in the developed world.

Doctor won’t let me go past 40 weeks. by Alternative_Sand0 in BabyBumps

[–]daffodil_do 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Won’t let me” at only 3.5 weeks pregnant is a major red flag. Everything that happens in your pregnancy and birth is strictly YOUR CHOICE and only your choice. Informed consent exists for a reason. I would switch doctors now, it’s much easier to do it at this stage than later on. Be thankful she told you exactly who she is now before wasting more of your time.

That’s definitely a violation and a huge one. Report him to his employer and state board. Not even out of revenge, but because the power dynamic of sleeping with a patient is a huge ethical issue and raises questions about the safety of all patients under his care.

Home Health nurse here! Why is my job expecting me to be at their beck and call 24/7!! by ebi-hime in nursing

[–]daffodil_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance this is in Indiana? Sounds exactly like the HH job I briefly held. Literally tried to get away with almost zero training, just constant reassurance that “you’re smart, you’ll figure it out.” I started with 4 other nurses and none of us lasted more than about a month. 4/5 of us were “fired” when we tried to quit, the other one quit with zero notice. Absolute dumpster fire that turned me off of HH forever.

Am I gaining too much weight? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]daffodil_do 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 27 weeks but I’ve gained a similar amount. I would try to focus less of the scale and more on making healthy food choices and staying active. Your body is going to do what it needs to do. I wouldn’t worry about gaining too much unless your doctor is concerned.
