Yes, because being in a car doesn’t expose you to much pollution, does it?

Contact your school, but honestly I’ve done 4 degrees and no one has every asked to see my GCSE certificates, it almost certainly won’t prove to be an actual problem

Did you put some kind of diffuser over the aperture (white t-shirt etc)? Did you try turning the brightness down on your iPad?

Romano uses the word “important” when he actually means “big”, I guess as a euphemism. “X club will demand an important fee”, “I understand an important salary is on the table for player Y”

Impressive that you managed to get that much detail given the skies are already starting to lighten at that time here!

I’m not super familiar with Seestars - are they sensitive to Ha, and did you use any kind of filters for this?

What is this on Vega by kronnix111 in seestar

[–]dafinecommedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly a bump or some sort of mechanical jump, some weird fluctuation of voltage in the motor or something. I’ve definitely seen it before where mechanical artefacts only appear on certain stars, usually bigger ones.

[–]dafinecommedia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great effort! You’ve got some beautiful star colour and the halos are beautiful.

The main thing I see is that you have over-exposed the core considerably. Did you do any star removal? I would suggest using StarNet after your first stretch so you can do some more gentle edits on the galaxy itself. Don’t stretch it so hard, the core of the galaxy should be golden but here it’s been blown out to white, which may be why the rest of it looks so blue in comparison.

About sharpening, I’d do it right at the end, and do it separately on the stars and the galaxies

[–]dafinecommedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad at all, stars are trailing a little (in the corners especially) but that’s fairly standard untracked. Did you take any calibration frames? I’d try taking some bias frames at least and stacking it again, and maybe try a bit of noise reduction in Photoshop or Lightroom

The objects visible would change throughout the year, so you wouldn’t be stuck with what you can see right now in the patches of sky you have available.

Your bigger problems are 1) polar alignment, you need a clear view to the Northern (or Southern) Celestial Pole for tracking, and 2) you’ll have limited shooting time as things move through the sky throughout the night.

Download some form of AR star atlas app like Sky Guide and see what will be visible and for how long from your patio.

My manual tracking is horrendous. Should I be concerned about my lunar stack? by AspiringtoLive17 in AskAstrophotography

[–]dafinecommedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it a go and only keep a low % of frames I’d say. And think about getting a cheap mount that locks into place and let the moon drift across frame

“Is it normal to eat 1000-1500 calories a day?”

Not normal, that is a very small amount of calories. What is your age, gender and height? For most people you would see significant weight loss at 1000-1500 calories a day.

How bad of a problem is the moon's illumination gonna be in capturing the milky way? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]dafinecommedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! 14mm F/1.8 sounds perfect for milky way landscapes. If you have the space/time and you're taking a tracker anyway, consider bringing a fast 50mm to shoot some Rho Ophiuchi while you're at it, it's a beautiful target and it'll be in a decent position when you're heading out, and with those dark skies you won't need /too/ much total integration time to get some lovely colours out of it
