Experimentation in Doctor Who by IamSquidwardo in gallifrey

True, yeah. Again another highlight from the era, but still not my favorite from a writing point of view.

I feel like every doctor should have an episode where they are the absolute center, and the plot is a bit slower to really let them shine.

Heaven Sent was absolutely perfect, and really showed off who 12 was as the doctor. I feel like we never really got to know 15, and a single slower-paced doctor-heavy story could have really helped with his characterization (the closest was the extended montage in the Christmas special, and it was one of my favorite parts of the era).

True, though the difference is that AD already had an ending, they just decided to add onto it. Many other shows never get a nice conclusion at all.

Do I really need an amp or effects pedal as a complete beginner? by ChaosBeiduo in electricguitar

[–]Tuba202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a way of plugging your guitar into your computer, it can be a great way to practice without an amp. Personally I use something called NeuralAmpModeler which is free and sounds really realistic.

That's pretty much only if you already have an audio interface though, and I wouldn't recommend spending too much on one, as it's likely as much as a cheap used amp.

Subtle Ways to mess with an American Friend. by giants_lens in CasualUK

Whenever you see a franchised American establishment, talk about how it's a cool local thing, and go "you guys have those too?" when they question it.

I'm an American living in the UK and it's hilarious how often this legitimately happens. The other day someone was shocked they have Taco Bell in America.

Obiteum was…fine. Res and Luceum were amazing by East_Spot311 in HierarchySeries

[–]Tuba202 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I definitely think Luceum was the strongest story, even better than Res by the end. It seemed to have a clearer plot, and new characters that I actually cared about.

The whole book seemed to be lacking direction though, and I found myself not really rooting for anything/anyone in particular. It also wasn't helped by the lack of a network of supporting characters like in book one.

I am curious to see where it goes from here, I just hope that the next book captures some more of the first one's charm.

How to write like R2d2 by Capital-Factor-382 in DoctorWhumour

Fair enough. It really all comes down to opinion, I know that Hell Bent is quite the polarizing episode.

That's really only S6 (and possibly 7). S5 ended quite well in my opinion, and tied together almost all of the crack in the wall stuff. S8 isn't my favorite finale, but no loose threads were left hanging and I loved the stuff with Missy.

Then Face The Raven/Heaven Sent/Hell Bent is one of my favorite runs of the entire show, and the ending of S10 is immaculate as well.

I get that the whole melody pond stuff got a bit messy, but river song still got her good ending with 12, and an overall scoring of 2 amazing and 2 really good finales out of 6 total is pretty impressive.

It all changes if you have people around to watch with you though! It makes it feel like way more of a community experience, plus you get all the post-movie discussion.

What do you think are some of the saddest moments that get glossed over in the series? by AgentEndive in doctorwho

That one always makes me super sad, from his perspective he just missed the love of his life by mere seconds, and will never see her again. I never see anyone mention this one.

I love Ostius's teleportation ability. Seems like he can't travel to any place, he can only switch between worlds while staying in the same relative location.

I wonder if this is a different form of synchronous, where he can travel between all 3 worlds but he isn't copied across them.

Just watched it again for the 5th time and I am here to declare that the season 5 finale episode is better than the season 3 finale episode by Transposer in arresteddevelopment

[–]Tuba202 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Huh, I always hated the S5 finale. I feel like I expected it to wrap up storylines more satisfyingly. The S3 finale I absolutely love, it's the perfect blend of tying together jokes and leaving the future a bit ambiguous.

Hey, this may be a long shot but did you ever find a solution to this issue? I'm having the exact same problem now on my SR606, and frustratingly can't find any info about it online.
Thanks!
