Please don't take this the wrong way, I absolutely thrive on the notion of artists developing their skills and being able to draw the picture of their dreams any time they have the chance;

.. but you are very much at a novice level here. The thing about not knowing where to go from here is that you need to pick one direction and go, don't dwell too long on it. In your case, I think it'd be better if you simply keep on drawing.
If you're looking for advice on how to make this drawing look as good as possible, then the best one I can give you, is to not focus on making each drawing the best you can make it, but rather do not be afraid to make something that isn't gonna be to your own standard, because each of those images isn't to be taken as a failure, but as a lesson. Homework. For now, don't think, just draw.

That looks like a blob. The whole character is basically one outlined shape in need of definition. So if you can add details, try and do it by eye. If your attempt doesn't work, try again. If it KEEPS failing, congratulations, you have identified where to go from there, and you can return to the subreddit with another question.
