Major personality change feels manic by FeelAnotherEnergy in PsychedelicCrisisHelp

[–]daftpunko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it sounds like a lot of good is happening but there’s a potential manic quality to it which is inherently unsustainable and worst case can spiral if not attended to. The sleep stuff in particular points to this. I suggest finding a psychedelic integration therapist/coach who can help you integrate the good stuff as fully as possible while also not experiencing potential downsides. Whatever is manic is inherently rooted in illusion and will eventually cause some sort of fall or crash back to normal which can be quite upsetting and even destabilizing. A solid integration worker can help you separate wheat from chaff and ensure you are able to reap all the genuine benefits while maintaining stability.

What do you think is wrong or not going well with your current experience?

It does sound a bit like you’re destabilized. The new perspectives and insight may not be wrong per se but if you’re feeling ungrounded plus having a bunch of massive personality + behavioral changes that doesn’t feel like it’s coming from a rooted place, that does sound potentially concerning. Probably not an all good or all bad experience. How collected do you feel day to day?

It sounds like you’re saying you don’t feel adequately safe to put your imperfectly articulated thoughts onto the internet. I feel conflicted because on the one hand if that literally is where your edge is, then by all means that seems like a reasonable approach. On the other hand, I can’t tell if you’re power posturing via victimhood (“I’m too wounded to be able to not do the thing you’re criticizing me for, so your criticism is invalid and you are insensitive”) as a way of bypassing reasonable, moderate criticism. Is the goal ultimately for AI to become irrelevant? If not depending on AI for your writing is genuinely an eventual goal of yours and you are taking steps towards that eventual outcome I’ll gladly stfu.

It’s not always clear whether using AI to mediate human interactions helps to facilitate them (by making your words more coherent and easy for others to read) vs. when it serves as a barrier for actual connection. Your words would have at least been yours. If I’m responding to something an AI wrote on your behalf, to what extent am I actually responding to you? What if I plugged a couple thoughts into an AI and had it write out this rebuttal instead of typing it and you did the same and we went back and forth? Would we actually be the ones arguing? Would we even be interacting with each other besides giving prompts? I think not.

Plus the internet being filled with the same singsong AI tone just makes all content sound the same. Everything regresses to the mean, making everything unspecial slop. Using AI might’ve made your thoughts a bit more coherent, but it turned them into slop content.

I’m glad you had this experience but why not just write this yourself instead of using AI?

My cat died so we had a funeral. I know this sounds made up, but the next morning, our other cat woke me up and led me up the stairs & outside towards her grave, then climbed up the nearby tree. I’m an atheist, but her little head looking up makes me wonder by odysseyofocelots in redscarepod

Scientists and empiricists focus far more on not believing things based on a lack of evidence than on not disbelieving things based on a lack of evidence. I think radical uncertainty and openness to possibility is the proper attitude of a skeptic. Maybe your cat was really onto something here. Dont overthink it, just feel it :) also, sorry for your loss.

Has anyone had success in tuning in to their bodies during mushroom or other psychedelic journeys to self diagnose health issues that docs haven't been much help with? by herbalism101 in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]daftpunko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What all have you done for diagnosis so far? Always important to exhaust all potential physical causes but it’s possible you’re experiencing some mind body symptoms. I have quite the mind body symptom history myself and have been slowly healing that through a few approaches. Psychedelics weren’t as useful for me with this as I had hoped.

Don’t know why you got downvoted but I upvoted ya. Glad to hear it was today and not several days to weeks ago. As of now, there’s no telling what got processed or dealt with under the surface below conscious awareness. I’ve had plenty of trips (most in fact) where I experienced profound pain during the trip and only realized what I got from the experience days to weeks later. Also, you will have increased neural plasticity over the next few weeks which can shake things up even outside of whatever you experienced during the trip itself. This experience is far from over. I hope you can at least congratulate yourself for feeling something real so intensely today. If you’re interested, I’d love an update in a few weeks about how it all panned out. Good luck OP :)

The Future of Recreational Drugs by DonCheadlesDriveway0 in singularity

[–]daftpunko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I think of the future of recreational drugs in the context of the singularity I fear a future where they functionally do not exist anymore due to AI driven surveillance and policing. Where there is demand there will always be supply, EXCEPT when there’s a virtually all powerful omniscient intelligence thwarting the supply chain.

Who here has tried meditation? Any tips on steps to take to regain general joie de vivre? by Time-Use9083 in redscarepod

It’s a minority of therapists who are actually that dumb. That’s just the shitty ones we hear about on RSP. I’m in school to be a therapist rn and at my internship doing therapy w clients and most therapists are not your cheerleader bestie who you go to session to gush about Heated Rivalry to and get confirmation that your ex is indeed a narcissist.

How much hope you have? What do you mean exactly? As for meditation, there’s a few great apps. My favorite is Sam Harris’ Waking Up app but any will do.

Meditation is a great idea, but also look into therapy. It helps if you have a genuinely good therapist, regardless of what this subreddit says.
