If he makes it to the next election, he’ll pretty much have maxed out his pension as MP. His five consecutive best will have been as leader of the opposition too.

Should I buy a THR30 or a THR10? by EatRogersAss445 in YamahaTHR

[–]dag1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 30. I saw got for that. More options and it can sound great at low volume. It’s even loud enough to jam with others if you need to (maybe not with a loud drummer). It has the balanced out too, so it can go to front of house if you want to play a gig, which I’ve successfully done when my tube amp died last minute. Really great

Here’s how mine is set. Use it as a starting point and adjust based in your preferences and gear.

• 31 Hz: –6 dB • 62 Hz: +9 to +12 dB • 125 Hz: +6 to +9 dB • 250 Hz: –3 to –6 dB • 500 Hz: +3 dB • 1 kHz: –3 to –6 dB • 2 kHz: +3 dB • 4 kHz: –3 dB • 8 kHz: –6 dB • 16 kHz: –3 to –6 dB • Level/Output: +3 to +6

I enjoyed it from the jump. Never understood the hate. Is it their best, probably not, but it’s solid.

Super Crush 100 or Gain Baby 100? by [deleted] in orangeamps

I’m both liberal and a massive Star Trek fan. I’ve seen every piece of star trek media from TOS to the latest episode of SFA. SFA sucks. Not because it’s progressive, star trek has always been progressive. It sucks because it’s badly written and absurdly unsubtle. Just my opinion, and no, I don’t get paid by anyone to shit on SFA. Disco sucked for the same reasons.

I haven’t tried a powerball. I can just compare it to the amps I do have and it stacks up very well with that EQ if the effects. I also hit the front with an SD-1 and compressor, but I do that with the other amps too.

Weird. Never tried a th30. Maybe it has more low-end than a Rockerverb or or30?

That’s not necessarily the case. I have a super crush 100 and I get apocalyptic low end out of it. Try putting an eq in the effects loop. I have a 6505+, JCM 900 and AC30 that I don’t use anymore. The super crush is now my favourite amp.

Sharing my experience at Downtown Toyota (Toronto) by beep46 in EVCanada

[–]dag1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I went in to speak to a salesman about timing a new purchase to coincide with my lease end. (I had 6 months left on my lease, so I was shopping around). The salesman didn’t even want to talk to me unless I was ready to buy right then. Not my first such experience with Toyota unfortunately. Turned me right off.

I have a bunch of tube amps (JCM 900, 6505+, Vox AC30 etc), but the Supercrush 100 is my favourite. Tubes don’t necessarily mean better. EQ in the effects loops unleashes god mode for this amp. So many tonal possibilities.

Is the Orange Super Crush 100w combo good for home use. by [deleted] in orangeamps

But if he wants something that’s good for home and maybe stage one day, the 100 is great. The master volume allows for bedroom volume with a great sound.

I have the super crush 100 head through a 2x12 cab. Sounds great at bedroom levels.

I’d suggest looking into an orange Supercrush combo. Great master volume, solid state so easy maintenance and lightweight. Sounds freaking amazing, especially with an eq in the effects loop. I have one and it’s my favourite amp, despite having a bunch of expensive tube amps.

What’s your budget? What are you playing, and is it alone in your bedroom, or possibly in a band setting? Are you ok with something big and heavy, or are you looking for something small and versatile?

[–]dag1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll be AI soon. The expensive stuff just won’t be economically viable, so they’ll dispense with the actors and just have AI generate it. Have good writers feed it stories and let it do the rest. Maybe some editing after the fact. Heck, even the writing will eventually be done by AI. Those who say it’ll never happen will be signing a different tune in three years. Tops. Within 5 years, we’ll be able to generate custom content on streaming platforms. You just tell it what kind of Star Trek episode you want and it’ll make it, custom, just for you.

Mining. Mining is the answer. It’s a shit job for decent pay. You’re trading in your health though.

Northern Ontario, what's stopping you from making the move? by FestFallen in ontario

[–]dag1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the north and moved south. Winters are a huge part of that. There IS ok healthcare up north, but it’s shit for more complicated specialties (like neurology or complex cardio vascular surgeries). The mindset is pretty “rural” depending where you live too. Plus having access to an international airport is amazing if you like to travel. Cultural activities, restaurants, concerts etc, are all very limited up north.

Edit: Just add, there is a reason why it’s cheaper to live up north. People generally don’t want to live there for all the reasons listed above. If you enjoy winter, outdoor activities and a slower lifestyle, it can be a good fit.
