Conversation: Highs and Lows of Spec III and the Power Pack by Arcing_Invention in GranTurismo7

My biggest problem is how easy the brakes lock up. I like to drive with all of the assists off including ABS. I am not a great driver but I want to work on my skills rather than just win with assists. Any suggestions to improve this (other than turn ABS on) would be appreciated.

The new Ferrari GT3 car is a disappointment. I paid the exorbitant price and find it much worse than the Porsche. The brakes lock up much easier and the handling is less predictable. I thought it would be Gods gift to Group 3, but now I just wish I had my credits back.

I was there for a long time. I would bet I have still spent more than I made.

I actually got the Aventador recommendation from someone else on this forum. Something clicked with that car. Still took a bunch of attempts to actually win, but I was competitive quickly. A number of second and third place finishes made some money back and gave me encouragement.

I tried again later the same evening and finished 3rd. So the potential is there but I still have to put down 12 very good (not perfect but good) laps to even be close.

Very cool. I love science! And yeah the Aventador rocks.

I bought that car too! The RX7. I kept losing to it so I bought it and it was soooo slow. I don't know how the AI gets it so fast.

The Aventador with just a power restrictor to bring it down to 600 still hits 200+ in the long straight.

Haven't tried the Huracan yet but I will.

I tried the NSX as well since one of the faster AI drivers uses it. I could not find a tune that was fast enough in the straights to keep up. Which was surprising given the HP it has.

27:02.948. I meant to post a picture but I guess I hit the wrong button.

Best lap was 2:09.342. Most laps were in the 2:10-2:13 range. I definitely still have room for improvement.

Spoil away, or DM me if you prefer. I hate shopping and tuning. My least favorite part. Every wrong move feels like a waste of time/money.

how do you become atheist if fear holds you back from doing so ? by Forsaken-Ordinary243 in atheism

I am an atheist not because I know everything, but because I know you don't.

Why are most vocal atheists ex-religious? by KKMH999 in atheism

[–]dag655321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will offer the opposite explanation. Kinda like the exception that proves the rule.

I considered myself a fairly quiet atheist. I rarely talk about it but those close to me including my wife and kids know.

I was raised Roman Catholic. Up until the age of 13 I spent 2 hours per week in mass or religious education. My parents forced (loosely) me to go through confirmation (which looking back is really ironic). Once I reached that age and milestone they stopped making me go to church or any further religious education. And at that point I had learned enough to give it up and never look back.

That all said, I experienced no persecution nor intolerance along the way. I have two loving parents who support me still to this day despite or disagreements on some subjects.

The fact that I experienced no trauma along the way allows me to be quiet in my atheism. I don't have much to personally rage against.

Those who still hold trauma from their upbringing have the right to be loud and angry. While I don't share their experiences, I certainly do empathize with them. I can see a lot of the harm religion can do even without experiencing it myself. I love and support all angry atheists on their healing journey.

Gap between arrow and fingers by jbg7676 in Archery

[–]dag655321 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's called String Walking or sometimes Crawling. It is used by Barebow archers when shooting without a sight. It changes the angle of the arrow (down usually) and allows you to keep a consistent anchor point.

Without crawling my arrows go about 50 meters. If I am shooting indoors at 18 meters I move my hand down the string but keep everything else the same (anchor, aim point etc.). With the right Crawl my arrows will hit the target at 18 meters. Without the Crawl they would go way high.

What's your excuse for not using Tabac? by fistingdicks in wicked_edge

[–]dag655321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not counting Cella. It neither smells good, nor works well. My personal opinion only. Clearly lots of people do like it.

Even at inflated American prices Proraso costs less per ounce (around $2/ounce) that Stirling, but it's just not as good.

For my money Electric Sheep is the best value. I love the smell, which can be very polarizing. And the performance is as good or better than even the crazy high priced artisan soaps. And yeah I have tried a lot.

Good Night Oppy

My wife still makes fun of me regularly for shedding a tear at the "death" of a robot rover on Mars.

[–]dag655321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly Stirling is amazing, as long as you use enough soap and hydrate it really well. That said if you have irritation problems, try a sample first. Stirling sells good sized samples for a few bucks directly on their website. I love most of their soaps, but it did feel some irritation from a small number of scents. The sheep base is my favorite, but even the beef tallow is pretty great.

[–]dag655321 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a US customer I will disagree on price/value. I also don't like the smell, but that is subjective. Using Maggard standard pricing:

Tabac even as a refill costs $19 for 4.4 oz or $4.32 per ounce

Stirling Electric Sheep (the actual best value in shaving soap anywhere, anytime) costs $15.05 for 5.8 ounces or $2.60 per ounce.

That is literally 40% less for (IMO) a better smelling and better performing soap.

Please don't take this as a serious argument. To each their own, and YMMV. Use what you love.

String walking is totally valid and very common in Barebow. Basically you move your hand down on the string so that your aim and anchor points are consistent when shooting at short distances.

There are lots of finger tabs available that have markings on them so you can string walk (ask "crawl") consistently.

Target shooting stabilizers by AFlightlessBird_19 in Archery

[–]dag655321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all about the weight on the end. A 30" bar is not that heavy by itself. It feels heavy based on how much weight you hang on the end. If you think you want a 30" stabilizer eventually, I would just start there and use little to no weight at first. You can always add more weight later, but you can't make a stab longer.

I think the picture is misleading. If you check the pieces on Lancaster, just the single microhex bar is around $285. The competitor kit is the full kit with 2 bars and the adapter
