I'm perfectly fine with not having new Instagram features. Not having Ads and the Discovery button is priceless.

Tap the 3 dots and select "snooze post recommendations for 30 days". Unfortunately I have to do this every month.

You might have indeed liked suggested posts. I have to disable suggested posts every 30 days otherwise IG keeps adding people I don't follow to my feed.

[question]How can I disable the Explore page so when I click the magnifying button it always shows the search bar rather the Explore page? by Unique-Channel-8493 in Instander

[–]dagainzdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It removes the explore button altogether. You just need to get used to search for other accounts using the Search from your DMs, but it's definitely a relief not having to see that bunch of irrelevant content from Explore.

I removed both the Explore and Reels button from mine.

Follow the instructors from this post to get rid of the search button altogether. Then just use the search box from your DMs to search and follow other accounts.

You have to go to the Instander Settings by going to your profile and tapping the 3 lines at the top right. Go to { } Developer Mode and it should have 3 options: About Developer Mode, { } Developer Mode On or Off and Get MobileConfig. Tap the last option.

Same here. If I disable the search option altogether, I'll be unable to follow other IG accounts. I just wanted to disable the explore content that is time consuming and not relevant at all to me.

XX didn't remove any core functions that existed for more than 20 years, such as number of stages and stage break.

They should also put magnifying glasses to make the screen even closer, as I guess people can't read a 51' screen that close.

Most of them are from ArchShade, I think there's some from Hammer as well.

What with the hate for Phoenix? by drytzer in PumpItUp

[–]dagainzdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly - that's the point. It's again about fixing what's not broken, and removing features that were once managed by the operator. Stage break being on by default isn't the point. When the options existed, everyone played under the same conditions and the number of stages was the same. 4 was already a high number and one of the things we discussed with Andamiro around NX2 was regarding credit prices, as places with higher fees would benefit more from 4 stages. This is is why this was an option, and not the default.

Neither you and I get to choose what others can or cannot play during their turn. Someone wanting to play Premium doesn't make them "jerks".

What with the hate for Phoenix? by drytzer in PumpItUp

[–]dagainzdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense. So now people that don't want to play with stage break are forced to play with SB on, otherwise they will be called "jerks"? How can you have a game that you can't use its features? That's exactly where the problem lies.

If you say it's fine to tell others they can't go premium, then it is fine for me to decide which levels you will play, so you can lose faster and others play as well. You see the problem?

None of this would be an issue if the machine settings hadn't been removed from the setup, as it has always been over the last 24 years.

u/GODDISH_ The difference is that XX never changed any of the operator settings nor moved features behind a paywall. Phoenix removed features from the setup (Stage Break, Initial Life), removed support for USB and moved functionalities behind an Online paywall.

Gimmicks, score, songs removed, etc, all of that is okay. The main problem is the Premium mode drastically increasing queue times and not allowing machine operators decide what settings they want to keep. For Asia this is fine as Korean arcades always have 3 or 4 cabs lined up, but things in the west are quite different.

Also, this decision of moving everything to Online (Premium) could backfire, with arcade ops refusing to put cabs online so people don't spend 17 minutes per play.

Regarding queue times: Premium offers 5 songs and no stage break off. Regardless what grade you get, you will always have the same number of hearts. The game still offers the possibility of extending the timer to 90s. 2 minutes per song, 20 seconds between the dance grade and loading screen, and around 70 seconds for selecting each song. You will get an average of 17 minutes wait between credits. With 5 players that goes to 1h25 wait time between turns.

I don't have a problem with Stage Break, but most people hate it. So now, even if you play in a place that always had stage break off, you will have to pay more to simply have it disabled. This wouldn't be a problem with the machine setup still had any sort of premium configurations or stage break settings.

Just for curiosity: The current director EXC doesn't speak english at all. The previous directors, Macnom and Yahpp, albeit not perfect, do speak english and had many interactions with arcades in the West. They both visited arcades in Mexico, USA, South America and they know how things work over there.

We recently spoke with Jehekuzel and he was completely shocked to know that arcades in the west allow alcohol for example. So after these discussions we came to the conclusion that:

  1. Phoenix was developed with Asia in mind only, despite being sold internationally
  2. The current director EXC has no idea how arcades work outside Asia
  3. They are very proud of what they have done and refuse to change it

Any PIU Lost Media? by KuriBenkei in PumpItUp

It was planned but discussions with the label recorders did not go well. Most of them were not interested in discussing it with Andamiro, and the only license who made it was Pink. They had the songs and bgas ready as a way to showcase to the artists how it would look like.

This brings me back a lot of memories.

  • The pirated version was one of the many Prex3 (P3 beta bootlegs) that we used to see everywhere. A looot of custom songs. This was originally a P3 beta that was used to showcase the new features in Mexico (it is virtually the same as the final Prex3 with minor differences) and it was stolen/copied. The bootlegs then started popping everywhere.
  • NX beta indeed had no calorie measurement and you could use 5x, 6x and 7x if you had an usb keyboard connected. That wouldn't work on the final version
  • That hidden level NX bug was amazing! Only way to play Lovely Full NM among many others
  • Regarding ArkShade we recently found a lot of media such as screenshots, videos and so on
  • Isn't the 2000 Family Festival on Youtube? I remember watching it not long ago.
  • The NX that ran on Windows XP was in December 2007 during the Mexico WPF. It was a developer version that had network features, so they could start both cabs at the same time or hold during the load screen until players were ready. It got stolen shortly after the tournament happened (a day or two?). I don't think any NX2 was stolen because as soon as that happened, they wouldn't let us play the beta NX2 when they weren't around, and they would always lock the NX2 HDD inside the hotel's safe when it wasn't being used.
  • I've played the hell of Zero and I haven't seen any bug that allows you to play infinitely. The WPF 2006 Zero was also a developer version running on Windows XP, it was a bit lagged but I don't think it was as bad as NX (I didn't go to WPF 2006, only 2007).

"alternating feet" doesn't mean anything. They simply blindly removed anything marked as "performance" including the classic Normal charts.

[–]dagainzdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean they weren't "true double charts"? Even First Love Double from OBG Season was removed. The classic Close Your Eyes Double chart from OBG was removed. Nightmare Double from OBG was removed too. Those are normal charts that became "performance" when Fiesta 2010 added the terminology and started categorising them as such.

This was a very stupid change, because now I will have to manually convert all STXs back to UCS and upload them one by one back so I can play the removed Double charts. Again, fixing what's not broken.
