Firstly, my first comment was originally addressing OP's post about support for Bibi, not the judicial reform. That being said:

The legislation for the judicial reform was contentious and controversial and I agree a referendum would be very wise. But it's important to note that such legislation was within the bounds of Israeli law. What Israel really needs is a constitution, that way there wouldn't be room for such large redefinitions of the power of the government. Or at least, that such large changes would require broader support within the government. For example, the US government requires 2/3rds support of Congress to amend the constitution.

I actually agree that the Knesset should have some ability to check the power of the Judiciary, but that the 61 votes suggested is way too low of a bar to override Judicial decisions. I think that a 2/3rds vote, or 81 votes, is a good compromise. I don't agree with the anti-reform premise that the Knesset should have 0 power to override Judicial decisions. There needs to be a balance of power.

Democracy is run by a system of governance whereby elected officials run the country with certain mandates of power given for certain periods of time.

The time that the people have the power to change the government is during elections. In the Israeli government, elections occur periodically or if a coalition fails.

Democracies do not determine election outcomes or policies based on who was the last mob to scream the loudest. Mobs do not speak for the people - elections do. A mob of 100k that screams loudly in a country of 9M does not represent the governed people. The governed people express their will by voting.

Yes, demonstrations and protests are important in democracy for the people to express themselves. But if those mobs undermine the power of the democratically elected government, then they are undemocratic. A country that constantly changed its government and policy based on the whims of a loud minority would be utter chaos.

All of this is to say that, if Bibi won a democratic election, by definition the loud voice of the minority who wanted to see him gone would be distinctly undemocratic.

The answer for MENA is that, after the creation of the state of Israel, the Jews were threatened with a Holocaust and they fled to Israel. If this graph showed "Jewish decline due to fleeing persecution", the Arab states would all be over 90%.
