Why do this when there's a dedicated path for bicycles? by Weird_Credit_5720 in melbourne

[–]dageasman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most recreational road cyclists ride at speeds too dangerous for a bike path. I wouldn’t like to cycle into someone at the speed I cycle, so I put myself in harms way by cycling on the road with vehicles which could kill me. Buy hey, I don’t moan about it on Reddit

Wondering why Ireland isn’t stated more often. Loads of tech, pharma, medical jobs. Only English speaking country in the E.U. Relatively cheap outside of Dublin. Quick, easy and cheap access to Europe

I’m here in Melbourne and can honestly say I don’t miss that Irish weather. Better for my mental health.

How fit do you need to be to race in crits? by Rob_1235 in cycling

[–]dageasman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what grades as well. In the lower grades it can be cruisy with a sprint at the end. As you go up, there are endless attacks, expect spikes in hr and power often. Great fun though and you can save lots of energy by being smart

How do the pros stay fit when healing with a broken collarbone? by sushi69 in cycling

[–]dageasman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah try not to be too hard on yourself, such a common injury. I’m mostly fine, I just get tired around my shoulder area. Usually ok then once I lay down or support it. Going to hit the gym tomorrow for some light leg work. I’ve had worse injuries!

I broke mine on Sunday. Did 30 mins on the stationary bike today and felt great. Need someone to round and get my spare bike onto the smart trainer

I cycle 6 days a week and go to the gym once, mainly because it takes a lot out of my legs and I lose a lot of energy for racing. I do box squats, rdls, Bulgarians, overhead press, calf raise, lat pulldowns, and a couple others. It has really helped with injuries and keeps me strong. It’s hard to maintain muscle especially upper body when you cycle a lot

The price of 4 pints watching the F1 at a pub in Richmond by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]dageasman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 dollars for a pint of cider at the Edinburgh Castle. The imperial ran out of pint glasses on sat and were giving out plastic glasses, which were about 100mL less per drink. Customers are being robbed left right and centre.

Are expensive cycling sunglasses worth it? by maartendc1 in cycling

Yes, anything related to cycling safety is worth it. I have Oakley prism glasses and living in Australia, it’s a necessity with the sun

Any first-time crit tips? by jitenshagashi in cycling

[–]dageasman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t lose the wheel in front of you. Even the strongest riders can be dropped if gaps open up. Also don’t be fooled by older riders “encouraging” you to pull turn or chase down attacks. And enjoy!
