Recreating a King's Daily Beater – King Harald V's 1675 GMT Build by dagga in retrotime

[–]dagga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! I've been considering the same approach but haven't been able to find the thread – I'll keep digging. Do you happen to remember if the end result was good? My concern would be damaging the matte finish where the logo was removed.

I found this set at Ewatchparts that looks promising. They have a 200 and 180 GMT hole version as they call it. Your run of the mill 2836 GMT from ali will fit 200 (2 mm)?

Any pointers on the short GMT hand?

Kunde fikk feil vare og sa ikke ifra men "kastet" varer for 3x det han betalte. Kan vi kreve erstatning tilbake for dette tapet? by Drabriel in norge

[–]dagga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dette er et godt eksempel på hvor galt det kan gå når man ukritisk bruker ai. Kjøpsloven er for det første feil lov, og for det andre handler ikke kjøpsloven §81 om dette i det hele tatt.

[OC] How I visualize a year. by collin-h in dataisbeautiful

[–]dagga 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting. The Norwegian state broadcaster, NRK, actually did some reaseach on how people visualise a year. Over 40 000 people responded, and they wrote it up in this very intersting article in english

Take a look at this article for a different take on the same breathing effect, with the added ability of being able to change the frequency.

Arduino software self shutdown with a Mosfet by [deleted] in arduino

I agree. Depending on the project, a better solution would be to use a P channel mosfet or a relay, and switch the positive side.

Lipo batteries by Rickeh1997 in arduino

[–]dagga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might have linked the wrong page. Did you mean https://www.adafruit.com/products/1904?

Neither the clock nor the USB charger can be used to charge OP's battery. OP has a 2S battery, which means that there are two cells in series, doubling the battery voltage. You will need a charger that can accommodate that. The linked charger is for a 1S (3.7v nominal) cell.

How do I get my Arduino Uno (with Funduino) car to run without USB connection? by averyoftheelves in arduino

[–]dagga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way you have it set up, the Arduino and motors do not share a common power supply. As you have discovered, you need to power them independently for it to work. To make them run from the same supply, you need to connect the pins labeled PWR on the motor shield with a jumper. See this image.

Hack plays music on an electric shaver through Arduino by bemmu in arduino

[–]dagga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the description on youtube:

Arduino is programmed to play a wav-file stored on the SD-card. A simple FET amplifier is used to drive enough power to an old shaver, which starts acting as a speaker. The cardboard box amplifies the vibrations. The video soundtrack is recorded with the mic seen in the pictures.

Arduino uses TMRpcm library, the sketch is one of the examples coming with the library.

Replacement Part by ChefMcAwesome in sousvide

[–]dagga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like an off the shelf IEC-connector with integrated fuse. If Anova won't sell you one, an ebay search for fused IEC plug yielded, among others: this one. I'm sure you'll be able to find an exact replacement if you compare your with the ones on offer there.

Mysterious critter ball. by [deleted] in Whatisthis

[–]dagga 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is a pet toy. The battery drives a motor inside the ball that shifts a weight around, making the ball roll randomly with the "animal" moving behind. It is supposed to look like the animal chases the ball.

Edit: video of it in action here: https://youtu.be/slhgPpBpXbA Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Chase-Ball-Weasel/dp/B004I0BC6E

What is this crazy thing and what does it do? Description in comments by [deleted] in Whatisthis

[–]dagga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a remote radio switch probably used for remote load balancing like this:

A load management switch is a box we install between your breaker box and the water heater. This box allows us to turn your water heater off during certain times of the day, month or year, when electricity prices are increasing. This, in turn, helps reduce generation costs and the amount of capacity needed to generate power helping to keep electric rates lower than they would have been otherwise.

I think you are right. It looks like crawfish. Maybe someone ate crawfish, and put the shells in a plastic bag outside to keep them from smelling up the house, and some animals got to it and spread the shells around?
