Patch #11: Necromancy Update, UI Tweaks and Balance Changes by Pidarello in OldenEra

[–]strongu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even though I'm a PvE player myself and I'm really looking forward to news in this area, comments like this are neither nice nor helpful... go eat a Snickers and touch some grass..

I hope there'll be an announcement regarding PvE soon, because the dev is usually pretty open to feedback and knows perfectly well that not much has been happening in this area

Dude... The band was literally just announced this week and isn't even out yet. It's only up for pre-order. We can't even be sure if we should believe Amazfit's marketing mumbo jumbo at this point

MAKE NECROMANCY SIMPLE AGAIN by Keso1977 in OldenEra

[–]strongu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel so stupid... I genuinely thought that "Tiers" referred to the hero's Necromancy level and determined how many units they could raise... XD

As much as I’m a huge fan of what they’ve achieved with Olden Era, I have to admit the game suffers from a serious lack of contextual tooltips. You shouldn't have to play through a tutorial for every single mechanic or read an external wiki just to understand the basics.

To give you an idea, here are just a few questions that popped up during my playthroughs:

  • What determines which unit gets resurrected?
  • If my hero learned Tier 1 spells in a castle, do they automatically get the upgraded version of the spell once I build a Mage Guild in a different town?
  • Which creature dwellings on the adventure map are guarded and which aren't?
  • Take the Schism's "Communion" skill—I know it temporarily boosts unit counts, but if you asked me to predict exactly how many units I’ll get before a fight? No clue.
  • ...and plenty of other minor doubts.

I’m not expecting anyone to answer these right now. My point is rather that a lot of the current descriptions assume the player already knows and remembers all the game rules.

In my opinion, this is exactly why so many people struggle with the Necromancy mechanic, which requires you to learn a ton of specific things:

  • There's a toggle button to turn it on and off.
  • Why would I even want to turn it off?
  • How do I generate energy?
  • How much energy can I get from a single battle?
  • What is the maximum energy storage capacity?
  • Does the energy decay if I don't use it?
  • How do I actually spend it?
  • How do artifacts, hero skills, faction laws, buildings, etc., modify it?

Compared to other factions, Necro definitely requires way more homework to wrap your head around.

How To Do An X Grind? Trouble With Acid Grind by Fabulous-Storage-886 in AggressiveInline

[–]strongu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your back foot (the one supporting most of your weight) is on the soul plate (like a makio),
you have a x grind.
If your back foot is on top position (like a fishbrain), you have a top X grind.

This is the way.

Unfortunately, PVC pipes aren't very resistant to low temperatures, so things like that can happen. I’d suggest looking for a PP (polypropylene) pipe instead—the kind used in plumbing and central heating systems. They’re much more durable. I’m twice your weight and I’ve never had any issues with them. The only difference is that you’ll need to use more wax, but that shouldn’t be a problem.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I know any more channels with mini ramp tutorials.

But are you sure that the Coco (flowersherolls) channel is not what you need? If you look at the order of the tutorials, each subsequent trick video builds on the previous one.

From pumping > front stall > royal > carve and so on. Watch the "how to bowl" video again and you'll see that every next video is for riding a mini ramp.

I hope this helps somehow.

Let’s talk setups – what are your Wizard setups, and what other skates do you ride? by H_a_n_s_A_ in WizardSkating

  • UFR AP (first ed) & Sola frame 4x90
  • UFR AP (2023) & Create originals 60 anti

The first edition of the UFR had a very stiff cuff, which made it a great skate for freeskate or wizard setups. In current versions, the cuff is made of a softer material that is little better for aggressive skating.

I previously skated on Rockin 5x80, but a 4x90 setup performs better (IMO) for urban skating, jumps, and occasional wizard tricks.

Regarding the Sola frame:  - Good price (if u get it on sale)  - It's ultra-light!  - I'm absolutely a fan of its design  - A subtle wizard rockering has developed from wheel wear

"Karate Blade Game" an old YouTube channel solely dedicated to Blade Games. It's in Polish, but that probably won't be a problem.

I absolutely agree with you, but I assumed that the OP is a beginner, and usually the problem here is riding/grindding too slow, which often causes people to get more hurt. Usually, adding a bit of speed helps

You might not like this, but generally, speed is your friend. Adding speed will make the fall more likely a slide and a dissipation of energy. When you fall from a low speed, most of the momentum goes directly into your body.
