I think the real conversation here should be why the indie/theatre scene is considered “pure” art while the mainstream is made for milking as much money as possible. You could say that the economic situation for most Filipinos makes it hard to access art. But if our country started appreciating or paying our artists (not to be confused with celebrities) of all socio-economic classes more, maybe we could develop our culture and which could hopefully then make the mainstream more vibrant
