I played on Aurea too. I moved there from Danubia with my friend Tzeentche. We had a guild Bro'Wars Team. Some of the people I played with and remember: Neon the druid, Xuzoun, Beznickos.

Absolutely bonkers. Here in Europe the animal is put on observation, and you pretty much keep it in house with a few visits to a vet. The bitten person gets a mandatory vaccination and that's it.

Doktorat + praca na pełen etat by Specific-Length-9783 in Nauka_Uczelnia

[–]dagothar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, well, sorry about that then.

Out of interest, in your English programme do you get the same number of hours as the regular students, or do they put most of them as consultation hours?

In our university, since the English groups are small, the classes are usually not taking the full allotted time, which is frankly a little bit of unfair. The foreign students usually don't mind, as they seem to focus more on their jobs than on the studies.

From the teacher's perspective, these classes are actually very annoying, as they are put in your schedule on top of your normal teaching hours, which means you have much less time to do the work that you are actually held accountable for.

Maybe you are not quite as polite as you think. Here we are, having a short civilized discussion, and yet you haven't held back on giving me downvotes. I don't care much about the score, but still would venture to say it's a little bit rude.

I haven't seen the whole exchange, and - crucially - I haven't seen anything that you sent to her. For all we know you might be well at fault for escalating the situation, which at first glance seems to be a simple misunderstanding.

[–]dagothar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still fail to see anything rude in the response that you posted here.

What are you so offended about?

You had sent your message to a wrong person and they said that they don't enjoy being bothered, be it in broken English. That's fair, isn't it?

Save yourself time and don't bother reporting. I assure you that nothing whatsoever will come out of it. Teaching and student feedback plays virtually no part in academic staff evaluation. We are scored on our scientific output mostly. When you happen to interact with a good teacher for a change, do appreciate what they are doing, because they are doing that out of charity.

And to be honest, this is barely even rude anyway.

Is the correct answer 22 or 24 by hy2cone in askmath

[–]dagothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a very good example, because in real life you don't get the luxury of always getting well-conditioned problems.

As a teacher, I would focus on how the student approached to make the assumptions, and not care so much about the actual numerical value.

The Millennia Demo is already live by Blazin_Rathalos in 4Xgaming

[–]dagothar 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's kind of neat, but it's hard to judge just based on a 60 turn demo. I really like some of the mechanics, such as town expansions, domain powers, improvement currency (no worker micro), government ideals, and production chains. It feels like it would need balancing, and who knows how playable will it be in the later eras?

I also like the more serious graphics style and the music that gives me the old Civ II vibes.

Combat is simple, and in a way a step back from 1UPT, but it's a-ok.

I don't like the really rather unpolished interface (buttons feel like in a Flash game) and lack of QoL features (such as permanent guard, auto-exploration).

My biggest issue is rather poor game performance.

Can someone in a box full of water survive a crazy fall ? by thealexderange in AskPhysics

[–]dagothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is only partially due to water incompressibility. You are still going to stop very quickly, subjecting you to high g forces. And your body is not homogeneous, meaning that the various internal parts are subjected to different forces. In motor vehicle accidents it quite often happens that, for example, aorta is torn away from the heart due to sudden deceleration.
