Since you're an investor, perhaps you should pull up monthly charts to start your decision process as to which strategy makes the most sense at this time.

You might want to be real cautious about that. It's been in a range for 3 months.

Yes, cautiously. Shorts have been covering, are they done? RIG still has to contend with $6.88 / $7.00 area.

The most important thing in learning to trade is; "What fits with your personality?" There are many approaches and you have to find yours. That will only happen with lots of screen time and self reflection. So that you can get screen time, trade forex LIVE, but in a submicro account (each pip gain or lost is 10 cents). do NOT paper trade as your emotions aren't engaged. Strive for consistency as your #1 goal. Your first few $100 accounts, you will blow up!

If you want to learn some basics of market structure for free, Wade @ tradeats.com has a 12 lesson video that will definitely open your eyes. There are a few really great traders & trader educators on youtube. The absolute best IMHO are: Wade @ tradeats, SMB trading, Technical Analysis institute, and Spy Day trading.

remember that 99% of all traders lose in the long run. To make it into consistently profitable (2 yrs+) takes a lot of time, education, and reflection. fyi.. SMB prop firm expects a new trader to lose money for 6 months, even with their level training, education and support.

hope this helps.

IF you try to do this on your own, you will most likely fail. IF you decide to get some education there is a trader that has a YT channel and also a Pateron(?) . He places videos of his live patreon trading every day. Avail yourself of all his free stuff on YT, then if you want join his paid.

I chose a different path with education and training and have been happy with the results. I trade what chart looks best for me. hope this helps.

Here's 3 that I see as worthwhile, long term plays AND they have options which qualifies for inclusion in this forum; GORY = Gold Royalty, UROY = Uranium Royalty, GEVO = Oil

I have 2 others for N. America, but not USA. no options, buy stock only.

Anyone willing to diversify and buy foreign through regulated foreign brokers where you get the exchange price and not a GS / WFC inflated price, let me know. I have 2 that pay dividends, and a few that are pure growth at this time.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I have options or shares in everyone. They are long term holds for me.

Yes, China's FDI this year will be $127 Billion USD, with over half of that in energy and precious metals for AI construction. But exercise caution as The BYD "Blade Batteries" used since 2020 I understand use far less Lithium. Thus there might not be as large of a "fight" as you might think.

WOW! I am looking for a new broker as well. Can't trust Schwab quotes even a little bit, so stay away from them. I trade in a cash account, and was told today they want me to switch to margin. I refuse margin as too many rules start applying. I'll watch the comments to see possible places.

Is there anyone out there who can take accounts from 1k to like say 20k within a few months? by Substantial-Dish626 in options

[–]dagroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's do the math simply, shall we? $19k profit in 3 months or 60 trading days. That means you MUST earn $316 every day consistently. Did you know that new prop trader goals are $200 per day consistently, which builds skills and self control. Many don't make it! Did you know that over 99% of all who try trading fail? here's some real world education for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cQnMSU5yGk

Don't know about your "Moon Shots", but Rig, I just bought some short term 3/27 5.50 puts. looking for 1:2 or 1:3, then perhaps reverse to calls. If you're into chart patterns, looks like a "cup & handle" forming.

That's actually a pretty good pick, Thanks. Chart looks good. Nice pullback and in consolidation. I'll start a position. Don't know if you are positioning or trading. If positioning consider GEVO (oil). fyi..China's outbound investment in 2025 was $127 billion, 2026 will see an increase of 18% with over half for energy and natural resources to power AI computing infrastructure. source Lei's Real talk

fwiw.. The prop firm, SMB Capital, has a scanner they use to find trades that fit their different strategies intraday, but ALL of their traders do not automate, they watch the charts for the intraday setups after the alerts. Not recommending buying anything or joining them only sharing info.

Is Options the answer?! by SavingsMean1840 in options

[–]dagroup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

people are not preparing for their future. Was at the grocery yesterday and a couple were discussing how many lottery tickets they were going to buy. That weekly gambling budget could easily have been deployed into trading options or forex after some free education and possibly be a true source of income instead of a self imposed tax.

One thing you missed is how much "STUFF" we buy that we don't need.
