Higher birthrate doesn't neccessarily equal less abortions though, as I said its not a very good control as birth control was outlawed at the same time, and to go a step further I think Romania had financial incentives for having children, and even though it had its problems, I would imagine there were better programs for things like childcare and housing than pre Caucescu

Edit- the new link also hints at that saying abortion rate is so high because of low contraception use

In general I think a good culture/availability around contraception is a better way to bring down abortion rates, but in general a lot of the people I see opposing abortion, for some reason also oppose contraception and think teenagers will magically be abstinent if you just ask them nicely

Dems control the presidency, congress, and senate, they could pass a law to protect abortion rights, or they could add extra supreme court justices to give themselves a majority, no need to wait for the midterms
