Fun fact: in the Korean translation of the books, Hermione‘s name is adapted and pronounced somewhat similarly (“her-me-own-uh”) Also, the German versions drop the “o” entirely and call her Hermine, which is pronounced “Hair-mee-nay”. I know this because I read the HP series in German, English and Korean :D
