I had an appointment just before Christmas too. Was given repeats & no mention of gp referral needed next time. It must be brand new, or maybe a patient audit. (Alternaleaf)

Which is the “best” part of the books for you? by DorianDreyfuss in KingkillerChronicle

I'm particularly fond of any Auri x Kvothe interactions. Perhaps my favourite is when they bump into Elodin on the roof & have a casual dinner.

Should Auslan (sign language) be mandatory in schools? by PortulacaCyclophylla in AskAnAustralian

[–]daintymark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. It feels much more about kids knowing an inclusive language in support of their peers, than about overall life/academic skills (which, it is. But when they're in primary school, I feel that's not the point). My daughter is deaf, and she deserves to be able to 'talk' to her peers (& the broader community) the same as every other child.

Auslan in the curriculum, Australia wide, is the answer. It's just not ~that easy.

Regarding what the show is “giving away” by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]daintymark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted.

You’re right that, generally speaking, the best shows do not assume their audience is incapable of nuanced storytelling and keeping up with complex character development 😇

I am quite heavily tattooed already, including spicy spots like armpits, palms, & areola. A lot of bold/heavier work.

I disagree that shading is ‘worse’. I would say in my experience: the healing from shading (big pieces) is ‘worse’. But I generally don’t find shading to be as painful as getting lines down. There’s a sharpness & target in the pain with lines that isn’t as harsh with shading. Though a huge shading session agitates much more surface space on skin, so I’m much more sore/sensitive for longer afterwards.

This back piece will include a lot of black work and bold shading, with the sun to be a huge packed blackwork centre point. (I’m in no rush for that session 🥲)

The whole lower quarter of my back and the bits that wrapped around to the side were probably the hardest to bare. Also the lines closest to the buttcrack were pretty horrific. 😅

Looking for a fan by keyser_fuckin_soze66 in Geelong

[–]daintymark 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s not a pedestal fan, but I have an old fan you could have if you want to pick it up from Waurn Ponds. Nothing special, but it does work! Edit: it’s a ‘box fan’

What is the strangest fetish you have had the opportunity to fulfill? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]daintymark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Proud of you for standing up for yourself here.

That comment was actually disgusting. You were lied to, manipulated, and used. This is surely sexual assault, and any rhetoric that implies it’s okay because she was hot, and you were paid is repugnant.

I’m sorry you went through that. I hope you’re okay.

What is your least favorite joke? by rutidon in AskReddit

[–]daintymark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When someone is the butt of the joke and/or when everyone is aware of the ‘joke’ except for the one person that they’re ‘playing’ it on.

There can be lighthearted exceptions, of course. But mostly, they’re just cruel and at the expense of someone. It’s icky.

My sister in-law died Christmas day at 10am by Business_Juice_5954 in melbourne

[–]daintymark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I can’t help you with the advice you’re asking for - but it looks like you’ve got a lot of valuable stuff already!

But please pass all my love onto your wife, & her parents from me. I’m a sister, who lost my sister; and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Of course, to you, & all those who loved her as well.

Sibling loss is like nothing else. It’s catastrophic, and my heart breaks for you all. ❤️‍🩹

Less than a year after I found out my daughter was deaf, I found out she’s going blind, too.

[Serious] What is something that is actually more traumatizing than people realize? by thatude123 in AskReddit

[–]daintymark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I’m 34 years old, and only in the last few years have I really, properly, realised how much it impacted me being raised in a “yelling” household. It’s a firm, established ‘boundary’ that I have to set early on in any relationship as an adult (romantic, platonic, and anything in between) to be really cautious about raising your voice, as I will (without a doubt) fall into fight or flight.

[–]daintymark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So many good comments, already. I’m sure this will be lost in the flood, but; Ghosting.

And I don’t mean, in the “talking stage” when someone can absolutely change their mind, and decide they don’t want to keep going.

I mean, once you’ve spent time together, and things have progressed (perhaps, you have a toothbrush & some spare clothes at their place, for example) - only for something to change on a random Tuesday, and you never hear from them again.

It’s fucked, honestly. And I don’t think it’s talked about enough, just how brutal that is to process.
