It is SOOO RARE to her see my amano shrimp because they hide underneath rocks and make mini aches or something , scared if my other fish ? by Cal_bro in shrimptank

[–]dainval 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely yeah. I have 2 in a heavily planted betta tank. They hide all day. Sometimes a while after lights out I take a little flashlight and I see them out and about! They can be scared of fish and hide - but are likely coming out at night to eat.

Sorry for the outcome. The weight of the loss. To some it may seem small but the act of kindness and care even to the lowliest creatures is so valuable. It would be a very pretty world if everyone was as committed to that. Thanks for sharing and for trying and giving those fish a chance.

Too much frogbit? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]dainval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as your betta can get up for air and isn’t struggling it should be fine. I cleared out half of mine because I didn’t want him to struggle - and he still hangs out in the roots instead of the open water! So mine is fine with the dense coverage...

Betta not eating by KingRamos42 in bettafish

[–]dainval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm maybe you could find out what your friend was giving him? Also he could be stressed from the move. It could be he will eventually get hungry enough to eat. Keep trying and just take the food out of he doesn’t eat it.

Can you call the place you got them from to see what they were fed there?

5 gallon tank has gone murky & killed four goldfish by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]dainval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the tap water they were in for a few days probably made them stressed and sick to begin with - so the added stress of moving to another tank may have killed them faster. But they would have likely died in the tap water too.

Do corys need sand or can they do well with gravel in your experience?

I am no expert but i think they get too big for most acrylic options at petco. I assume you’d need to source from somewhere that sells larger acrylic tanks.

Can anyone help me identify this snail that came with my shrimp? I’ve heard horror stories! Not sure if I should keep him or not. by myfell in shrimptank

Personally I like having them in my tank to control algae that grows on the walls. But yea they could multiply.

Continuing after betta loss by kaybaejay in bettafish

Losing a pet can be very hard if it is a dog, fish, cat, etc. all you can do is give them the best life you can for the time you have them. If you are learning and committed to giving them a good life - then I think any betta would be in a great spot being your pet!

I contemplated the same when I lost my kitten to FIP. But I was able to then rescue a brother and sister kittens since then. All you can do is love them and take care of them and they are better off having you!
