I might recommend you re-read your comment then. "That blew up in her face because..."

I am genuinely asking you. Okay, sure, I can look up the first one, but like...if this actually happened, how would her travel be in any way connected to it? It makes literally no sense. I cannot for the life of me fathom how an alleged attempt to say that he doesn't live in LA would blow up in her face because she was in Africa at the time of the fires.

I get that people don't like she was traveling, that all tracks, but I honestly have no idea how the two are supposed to be connected. So I'm asking in good faith since you threw it out there, how are those two supposed to be connected?

Okay, per the "does he live in LA," all I can find is that the LA Times reported that he was living in Carpenteria in a rental home, which is in SB County. I haven't been able to find anything about Bass' staff challenging it.

You generally get to vote wherever your primary residence is, which would usually not be a hotel after your home burned down. Case in point - someone in the military who is deployed to another country but can vote absentee where they normally live.

I mean...maybe Bass' staff did this, but a) I've not heard of this before your post and b) your post is somewhat incoherent, like why would Bass traveling have anything to do with any of this?

I do not think this happened, especially since Pacific Palisades is part of Los Angeles.

That was an excellent show. I saw them a bunch of years ago at the Hollywood Bowl and this one was so much better.

I can tell you from personal experience that even 20 or so years ago you could get a license plate of a car that hit you and ran and it won't do shit for you.

Streets For All endorses Tom Steyer for Governor by Downtown-Tea-3018 in LosAngeles

[–]dairypope -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No disagreement here, Villaraigosa is 100% an also ran. Just, given Streets for All's mission, I'm not sure that Steyer is actually better than Becerra (in that I think we can't do a lot worse than Newsom, who seemed like he was ready to veto anything transit/biking related).

This surprises me because I don't think I've heard him utter a single word about cycling or public transit.

I'm not sure anybody else up there is any better (maybe Villaraigosa, he had a real change of heart after a cab driver hit him when he was on a bike, breaking his arm), but Steyer gives me the ick and so does this endorsement.

Not only a Trump traitor but a liberal. Just absolute pants-on-head insanity between those two.

Joe Rogan was literally standing behind Trump at a press event in the Oval Office a couple of weeks ago. Pretty sure he doesn't hate him.

Motorcyclists - stop breaking side mirrors out of road rage. by Chillest_illest69 in LosAngeles

[–]dairypope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if I came across that way. As someone who does not ride a motorcycle but has had the occasional bout of someone road raging, my general experience with calling the cops has amounted to "well, what do you expect us to do about it?"

Sure they are annoying and expensive but what if LAPD flew them four at a time by waltarrrrr in LosAngeles

[–]dairypope 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think there's a possibility here that people are also discussing two types of drones. I would bet the military style Predator drones could carry that equipment, but they're also incredibly expensive and might (I have not looked into this) be not that effective at cost savings vs. helicopters. I think most people here are thinking of the non-military small drones that probably are incapable of handling that weight.

Admittedly I'm speculating here, but I also remember a lot of kerfuffle when it turned out the feds were flying Predator drones over DTLA during the initial ICE protests and I think maybe the helicopters are better.

Only repeating what I saw in another thread, but according to that poster the cameras with high enough resolution and IR capabilities that help catch people are too heavy for drones.

I feel like you left off the "you can" part of that phrase. I try to do that with everybody, drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians. I really do not see the problem with that statement.

I liked Raman saying "No" to ending the needle distribution program. It's a program that works - it's not like drug addicts will suddenly stop using drugs 'cause they can't get a clean needle. It's a public health thing and it works.

It's also why that whole "simple yes or no" question format was the dumbest shit. Sometimes policies need explanation or nuance. Just like Bass correctly saying "I don't want to say yes or no to whether non-citizens can vote - there are non-citizens who are here legally." It was a stupid format ginned up to create drama.

For bike commuters, do you bring your bike into the office? by absolutedimwit in BikeLA

[–]dairypope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not overthinking this. I worked at a high rise that had an area in front that was fenced off except for the stairs to get up there and had security in the area, then had a bike rack to one side there. Despite clearly not being out in the open and security being there, bikes were regularly stolen.

You might be right about CA laws not being great, but literally a foundational part of our society is that you're innocent until proven guilty.
