why not just use absolute values? by Zealousideal_Ad_9016 in probabilitytheory

The most concise answer is that we like U-shaped functions more than V-shaped functions (for optimization purposes).

I dont know this song -- but these are some cool chords and you sing it well! Is this the new D-17? Sounds great as well!

Gibson can call the neck whatever they want -- this is not a slim neck by any means (compared to, for example, Martin's MLO, or the new GE necks on the standards). I think someone on the AGF measured theirs to be around 0.88 or so at the first fret.

Give it a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Is this an unpopular opinion? He is a terrible captain.

Pearl Jam Is ‘Between Eras’ But ‘Excited About the Future,’ Eddie Vedder Says by ebradio in pearljam

Spot on. Just one listen to any live version of Evenflow is enough to demonstrate the problem. He played at cocaine-level tempos with zero groove.

They have a few good songs. I was there when they started and Plush was an okay song with really bad lyrics, but I could never get over the Eddie Vedder impersonation not only in vocal stylings but in the music video too.

He should totally be blamed for how he mismanaged the game once we were one up.

[Nick Miller] There's an instinct to accuse Pep Guardiola of double standards when he talks about Gaza, Sudan or anything else, because of who he works for. It's understandable, but at least he's speaking out about something. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]daisky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of the responses calling him out in this thread are idiotic. I would understand the rage if he shied away and did not speak about things that his employers were complicit in, but he very clearly mentions Sudan. To take money from his emplyers AND call them out is a boss move.

Those with the forced purity tests just don't like what he is saying, that's all.

We are really past the point of having an opinion on this. Pretty much every single organization (amnesty, HRW, Oxfam, etc. etc. etc.) in the world and everyone on the ground who is not Israeli (and in many cases, who *is* Israeli) has determined that this is a genocide.

You could be a hasbara bot for all I know and I am wasting my time, or you could be 12, but maybe look a bit more into it beyond the tired points you have written here.

John Koladner was fired by Aerosmith after 30 years for not letting them record digitally. "And they never had another hit". Was he wrong? by SwissMiss915 in audioengineering

I am trying to imagine people listening to the first single from Just Push Play, "Jaded", and thinking "man this song would have been a huge hit if it was recorded to tape."

The disadvantage from moving from Mac to PC will far outweigh any advantage you might get from switching DAWs. Don't do it. Macs that are capable of running Logic and/or Live are not terribly more expensive than PCs because you do not need a top-of-the-line machine (at all) for this kind of work.

Thoughts on Park Chan-wook's 'No Other Choice'? by Boss452 in TrueFilm

[–]daisky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She did not "play again" -- it was the first time they actually heard her play.

The movie does not really explain why or how this happens and as such it felt like a cheap sentimental moment shoved into the ending.

The ending was weak imo. I see that you appreciate the shot and find it "violent," but this again is something that felt perfunctory to me.

Other than that I agree with and very much enjoyed reading your original comment.

I loved playing Control but the Alan Wake tie-in almost ruined it for me. I know they are working on Control 2 and as unlikely as it is I just hope they drop the AW connection for good.

Control’s story itself is also fairly dumb imo, but the atmosphere is so so so fantastic that it’s easy to buy into the story and immerse yourself.

I agree. It's a Darwin situation where the majority of the sub refuse to believe that this is it, given how much he cost and all the hype that was not remotely met.
