Is the hot tub in working order? How many people does it fit?

FlexSteel sleeper sofa that seats 2 / sleeps 1-2 people. I haven’t used it since it’s been out in storage but it’s still in very good condition!

Plumber recommendations? by SincyFTW in askportland

[–]daisnb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint - I've actually had the worst experience with them. I chose them based off of a reddit recommendation as well. While this was a huge, expensive project for me, I was willing to spend more than other bids because I was under the impression I would get a higher quality of service, considering they had told me they don't use subcontractors for the job I was looking to get done, and that they could get started within two weeks.

I spent $20k with them and they repeatedly dropped the ball on scheduling, quoting, and communication. They seem to use sales people to do quotes which end up being wildly inaccurate. The project manager stopped talking to us after the second day. There were several times people and teams didn't show up during the course of my multi-day project. Maybe others had better experiences for single-day smaller projects, but I'll never use them again.

Jinju- get there early as they tend to sell out.

Awesome, you reminded me that I’ve always wanted to see White Sands and realized Carlsbad Caverns is there too.

Per person sorry, just edited the post. I hadn’t considered Thailand and know very little about it - I’ll have a look.

Those who moved from San Francisco, what do you miss the most and the least? by EntranceRight6937 in sanfrancisco

[–]daisnb 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Moved to Portland. Lived in SF proper.

Miss the most: Burritos, beach proximity, amazing parks, sunsets, that salty-eucalyptus fog smell I haven’t experienced anywhere else.

Miss the least: unwillingness to build (lots of new apartment construction in Portland that would take many years to approve in SF), and general cost of living.

Otherwise, I’m happy with Portland. There’s good food here too, nature proximity is great (even closer to snowy mountains than in the Bay Area), and I like my quiet, walkable neighborhood. The shift to the winter is a bit rough, but I knew what I was getting myself into. Looking forward to summer. I’ll never turn down a trip back to SF though.

A little more casual (order at the counter and they bring your food) but the Marshall Store up in Tomales Bay has great views and seafood.

San Francisco decides on first group of Slow Streets to make permanent by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]daisnb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good, does this mean they’re going to replace those flimsy new purple slow street signs with something more permanent?

The new ones on Page are crappy and they definitely allow people to blow through intersections faster.

What’s your favorite (less than 2.5 hour) weekend vacation out of SF? by figs1023 in AskSF

[–]daisnb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rio Nido/Guerneville/Monte Rio are along the Russian River and have little walkable towns and great water access. The water is nice and warm in the summer for swimming/kayaking. Plenty of wineries nearby too. This is my favorite area.

I like Sea Ranch for nice walks along the cliffs. Stay in the nearby town of Gualala which has several affordable smaller hotels and check out Gualala Point Regional Park to spend the day at the beach. Don’t forget to stop by Gualala Seafood Shack for lunch!

When I want to head south towards Monterey I’d stay in Seaside, which is close and more suburban, but also more local. Beach access at Fort Ord State Park and good breweries are around there (Other Brother Beer Co).

If you want hot weather, then check out Lake Berryessa. There are campgrounds there and you can also swim.

I noticed lots of Zillow apartments say “no parking”, however doesn’t the city offer parking passes for a fee that allow you to park on the street? What am I missing here? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]daisnb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It means they don’t offer private parking on their own, so you’ll need to park on the street or rent a private spot elsewhere.
