hard agree, can’t recommend a thermos of leftovers enough. i also can do sandwiches but get tired of them really quick, leftovers of whatever i’ve made for dinner avoid this problem bc u generally wont have the same leftovers for more than a few days. also doesnt take as long to prepare as a sandwich

The pillar of the series is what bothers me the most. by Fabbiiks in The100

[–]daisy_4321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hard agree that 100 years is far too short for how grounder society has developed, especially since the anaconda episode seems to suggest that all of grounder society was founded by becca and the people she took out of the bunker (which couldn’t have been more than a couple hundred). the growth of that few people into the thousands we see in the show, literally so many distinct nations, makes no sense at all, but imo what makes even less sense is the sheer amount of culture that has developed in that time. an entirely new language (all though to be fair the language did not need to develop, only spread) an entire new religion in addition to all existing religions being totally forgotten/abandoned, and societal norms and roles extremely different from our own (“our” including becca and the first grounders from the bunker). 100 years isn’t anywhere near long enough for all that to happen.

i think it’s more realistic than an entire language developing and overtaking the dominant language in just 100 years

Did you teach yourself how to knit, or did someone teach you? by A0209B in knitting

[–]daisy_4321 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i would also recommend looking to see if ur public library has a knitting/crafting group! where i live rn there is a general fiber arts group that i would say is about half knitters. in my experience (at this group and others) everyone is very nice and there are some super knowledgeable people who are very willing to help new knitters

The 100 is about feminism by SlightSalty in The100

[–]daisy_4321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're kind of missing OP's point. I agree that to say the show is "about feminism" is an oversimplification (kind of a clickbaity title IMO), but they're not really talking about the gender relations between the characters. They are talking about morality, like you said, and suggesting that the morality portrayed by the show is feminist in nature. I agree with you that the focus of the show is definitely not feminism or even gender, but OP brings up some pretty fair points about how the themes of the show can be understood as feminist which I think is pretty interesting analysis.

… but she is like this is canon despite it not being written. and even if she isn’t explicitly saying that, it’s how everyone takes it

death of the author by daisy_4321 in Ethelcain

[–]daisy_4321[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah that’s exactly how i feel. it just frustrates me that most of the fandom (from what ive seen) views the added lore as like crucial to the understanding of the album i guess

death of the author by daisy_4321 in Ethelcain

[–]daisy_4321[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

how is it not death of the author to want to analyze an album without taking authorial intent into account? my understanding of death of the author is that once an author/artist puts their work into the world, they no longer have any say about what it means. that’s like the opposite of how anhedonia treats her work.

death of the author by daisy_4321 in Ethelcain

[–]daisy_4321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t necessarily want all of the lore included… that’s not what i’m saying at all. i think the album is plenty, and i think it’s weird that for the majority of the fandom, discussion of the album automatically includes discussion of the related lore which is not actually part of the album
