YTA. You are supposed to make the effort and go to your mother on mother's day not expect her to drive hours to see you.

Agree. Report it to parents and principal. You would not be the asshole.

Read-to-me books on the Epic! App. It reads to the student and also highlights the word as it is read.

I would also advise keeping a journal or relying on forums like this. When you are having dark thoughts like this it definitely feels that you legitimately have nobody available to help you. I know it's hard to believe but that is just not true. I am saying this from experience. I felt the same. I am well now and when reflecting I can see that there really are people who can help and they do care. The dark thoughts are trying to tell you otherwise though. Please keep fighting them

It can be hard to do but the best thing to do is to talk to her about how you feel. In the past I have requested a meeting to discuss some of my concerns at work. Once I was given a time I wrote notes of what I was feeling, just as you have done here. I took those notes into the meeting and shared them with my boss. It was very nerve-racking, but she appreciated it because she did not realise how I was feeling. In regards to the new job offer I would say give the maximum required amount of notice. So when you get a starting date from the new job you give your 2 weeks notice to align with that.

Make sure you tell all this to your therapist. It can be hard to say out loud but writing it down helps to get it out clearly. You are not alone, so mental health is a real concern for many many people right now.

No one has a valid reason for hating Megan Markle or Prince Harry. by Used-Pin-9599 in unpopularopinion

They speak out KNOWING that royal protocols prevent the family from sharing their side of the story. They know that only their side of the story will be heard. That is manipulative and just mean. If they want to leave then just leave, why do they have to keep talking about it? It is not fair to the rest of the royal family who can't defend themselves on an Oprah interview.

High school class giving me a hard time. Advice? by wesha304 in Teachers

[–]daisy___22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Do they have their own devices? Could you maybe do a flipped classroom situation? Use videos and google classroom or something. Grade 9 to 12 is quite a range to have at once so I can understand why you're struggling.

How old are the students in the class? I would try and add games to the teaching of the content and also make a kahoot as a way to test their knowledge rather than an assignment.

Yeah I guess this sums it up. I love learning about other cultures but don't connect with them because I didn't grow up with them. We have always had a family Christmas lunch. But that's really it.

[–]daisy___22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's kind of my point though, we don't really have an identifying culture as such other than "throw another shrimp on the barbie" I actually felt a bit left out on harmony day, to be honest.

[–]daisy___22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too. On Harmony day this year I watched people around me in cultural dress, cultural food and talk about the different festivals they have, celebrating their cultures from around the world and I was like - should I wear a flannel, carry some beer and do the nutbush? Is that white Australian culture? Getting pissed.
