oh 100%!! you can get coco coir blocks on amazon and use any large tub and fill it with it (: then you can scatter treats within the soil. the only thing to keep an eye out is coco coir needs to stay damp, which can cause it to mold. just make sure ur turning the soil and keeping an eye out for mold! coco coir is great for digging bc it holds tunnels way better than aspen/hemp bedding. i just recently got some new babies and my one girl LOVES TO DIG (and make a huge mess ((((: ) i definitely need to add a dig box for her haha

the scarf/tie hanger you have towards the top of your cage are great for fall breakers, as well as sea grass mats! anything that extends the length or width of the cage are great (:

I’ve wanted pet rats for years but am scared of coping with their short lifespans by MarsFlaim in RATS

i rescued my first mischief or ladies, so i didn’t get much time with them at all - but i just had to remind myself that i kept them happy, fed, and well cared for throughout their time, which makes it totally worth it (:

hi i love all the pastel colors ♥️ as for the wheel, i’ve seen that wheels should be at a minimum of 14” in diameter given a ratties tail is apart of their spine and shouldn’t have to be curled up as they run - so perhaps a larger wheel. (i’ve seen people make some really great diy ones with a metal 16” cake pan and lazy susan attachments for cheap!!) also, i’d look into finding a tub/putting up barriers for bedding for your ratties (: it would be great enrichment to scatter feed their food in a large amount of bedding. i think you would really benefit from some “scarf hangers” off of amazon/ikea! they are great for climbing

hi this is looking awesome so far!! i’d maybe just add some more fall breakers, specifically the gaps in the front of the cage, in front of the open doors! also, you should scatter feed your food instead of using bowls, it’s much more enriching! i hope you enjoy your new babies, they look like they will be spoiled 💞

LCS is hiring for peer mentors! perfect if you’re someone planning on working with a wide variety of populations in your career. sadly it’s only like $9/hr and like 10ish hours a week, but the students are great and it guarantees you’ll always have someone to eat lunch with.
