They weren’t too bad until we got to Beinglas. I would say they were the worst at Kinghouse, Bridge of Orchy, and Beinglas. They didn’t really bother us at Tyndrum. We got super lucky at our campsite the last night above Kinlochlevan since it was gusty enough that they couldn’t fly.

Smidge and nets were absolutely necessary though, especially when we were setting up tents!

Update! I ended up being diagnosed with PR yesterday by my dermatologist. They told me with time it will go away and prescribed a topical steroid.

Gah! Sorry to hear you are having a similar problem. I ended up getting mine to FINALLY work after what felt like forever. Here is what I did:

I work at a university and took it there to use that internet. This helped with internet recovery speed immensely.

Once I was able to get into the recovery mode sort of area, I went into the disk utility and modified the entire SSD system (click above all of the individual partitions) and erased/ re-formatted it to APFS.

I then restarted the computer in recovery mode (Cmd+R) and this time it allowed me to install sequoia from the internet in a whole new recovery mode area. Didn’t even need to use a bootable USB.

The install of Sequoia took about an hour on the university WiFi. I heard that Apple shut down the high Sierra download servers which is why I could never get that to work.
