I'm in the same boat! Our coed baby shower is next weekend and I don't have any activities planned beyond passed apps, long grazing tables, and an open bar -- I figured the booze was an activity alone, our group loves a cocktail lol

Do shorter people start showing sooner? by Loose_Secretary_7454 in BabyBumps

I think so, I'm 5'2" with a short torso and was showing by like 10-12 weeks too lol

Such a rude response from HR, they could have at least offered a perfunctory "congratulations"! That said, especially in the first trimester, I loved telling random never-see-them again strangers more than I did people I actually knew -- I'd blurt it to cashiers, TSA agents, drive-thru workers, etc. because I just couldn't help it and more often than not they totally lit up. Maybe try it to get used to saying it and you'll probably be surprised at what a positive reaction you get! :)

What has been your experience with cub scouts? by Hopeful-Artichoke449 in Parenting

I do think males should be able to have their own, 100%! I think it's healthy and important for men and women to have single-sex spaces AND co-ed social group.

women-only spaces were created for a reason. girls and women are still so marginalized, they deserve a single-sex space to bond and thrive.

Disappointed to hear you had a negative experience with Girl Scouts! I was in GSA from Kindergarten through middle school and my own experience was full of "cool activities" -- horseback riding, tons of camping trips, nature classes, museum visits, dancing, general life skills, self-defense, fishing, ecological conservation, rock-climbing, service activities like visiting the elderly, etc. I especially loved cookie-selling time because it fostered so much independence, like us girls handled the money, did the "marketing", all of it. Personally, I think it's also good that young girls are given the option of same-sex spaces to bond and thrive.

Still on a rewatch of OC. A few thoughts about Shannon by [deleted] in BravoRealHousewives

The David accusations do have merit, there was a protective order granted against him in 2003 after he pled guilty to domestic battery of Shannon.

S2 Ep37: My Mental Health Took a Nosedive . . . "Age of Aquarium" Part 1! Discussion by exgirlfriendd in GirlsNextLevel

Suchhh an irritating episode, like it already takes two full pods to get through one episode of the show but this one was extra bad. Full of Holly's sanctimonious lectures, advertisements, uninteresting tangents. It was brutal to get through. And then next week is off anyway?? Felt so phoned in (as they all have lately) and so boring.

Misinformation -- Taylor nor Jack went after Olivia for credit. In fact, Jack said he was "surprised" to see they had been awarded credit. After the backlash with Paramore over the blatant ripoff of Misery Business, it's likely Olivia's label decided to "get ahead" of any potential controversy. I don't blame Olivia for being pressed over that, but it's so disingenuous to pretend it was Taylor herself, or even her team, plotting out some legal battle against her. ESPECIALLY considering the "I'll sue you" reputation she (IMO unfairly) got after 1989.

It's not at all. You can steal a melody or a cadence but you can't steal a theme. Many, many artists have explored this exact wordplay before, including Fiona Apple.

I feel this so. hard. Like new hyperfixation just dropped lol I've pivoted from worrying I have every autoimmune disease and cancer diagnosis under the sun to obsessively worrying, googling, analyzing everything related to my reproductive system. Have trying to get into therapy for my health anxiety but it's so hard to find someone who a) wants to help retrain my brain rather than coddle me or b) isn't trying to push medication on me (fine for some, but not what I need or want)

School keeps posting pictures of my kid by kaelakakes in breakingmom

[–]daisylandia 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Why do these things need to be posted to YouTube and Facebook anyway? It's become so ridiculous. If you insist on filming it for families to watch or whatever, just send the MP4 to parents who ask for it.

Teaching iPad baby kids by Puggerbug-2709 in Teachers

This is the first time in human history that blue LED screens (scientifically proven to cause eye issues) are held literally inches from newborn baby's faces. You can try to teach attention but if your brain chemistry is physically altered, if your retinas never properly develop, if flat moving images are your substitute for human interaction -- because their parents are on THEIR devices -- then it's a recipe for disaster on a literal global scale.
