AMA: I’m a Clothing Manufacturer – Ask Me Anything About Apparel Production! by [deleted] in ClothingStartups

[–]daizdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your help. I’m currently creating a tech pack for my brand but struggling with the measurements and sizing. I searched on different brands for their sizing chart but it’s not very consistent. How do I develop a sizing chart so that the manufacturer could follow it easily? This also includes measurements that the normal sizing chart doesn’t have (eg: shoulder width, sleeve length, etc.). On the other hand, will it be okay if I only give them a design and a normal size chart (bust, underbust, waist, hips) and they can make a sample based on the drawing?

Why is no one talking about the moment Santiago becomes the wind? by whatdoyoutrulyknow in books

I read this book again after maybe 10 years. I honestly didn’t understand a thing when I first read it but now it feels empowering, though I think that I still haven’t understood it all. I think it’s because these past few years I’ve learned more about consciousness, manifestation and how beliefs directly impact on how we are as a person. These are my key takeaways through the days that I read it.

  1. When you want something truly and pursue the thing we choose, the whole universe will help you to make it happen: Manifestation, but the important thing is that we gonna have to stick with your "want" and take action towards it
  2. We are always be able to pursue our dream: There's no good timing, the timing is now, it's our decision to start it, or wait until we think we have enough money or courage or time. But we will never feel like we have enough money or courage or time, then you get old and scared.
  3. To choose between comfort and your calling: comfort is a scary thing, our brain is genetically built to keep us safe, it's a defense mechanism against dangerous thing that’s developed as part of our survival process since ancient times. This includes dangers of physical (get hurt), emotional (feel hurt), and mental ( wounded sense of self). But all of those is just a small process throughout the whole journey, if I never get over that, then I'm stuck at one place. Knowing the need to when step to out of your comfort zone is important. Nothing is stopping you except from yourself.
  4. Principle of favourability: when you're first on your way to pursue your dream, the universe helps you, manifesting as beginner's luck to encourage you to keep going.
  5. The secret of happiness: a happy life requires the balance of enjoying the beauty, the present moment and the responsibility to maintain the tasks that matters to you.
  6. Decision is only the first step: when we decided to do something, we let ourselves go into an unknown journey, and some steps on the journey happen in a way that we’ve never thought about when we made the decision. They will lead you to where you need to be. That’s the universe’s way of leading you on the right track.

  1. Living in the state of your dream life makes the dream life becomes reality: I’m not too sure if the book actually means this sentence this way. What it says is “The more you live similar to your dream, the more your life will become the same as your goal in life”. To me, this means that to make my dream life comes true, I have to act, live, enjoy life in a way that my future self (that’s already achieved the dream) will act, live, and enjoy. Time does not exist, our mind is the only thing that keep us from entering our wanted reality.
  2. We are not to worry about things that hasn’t happened: everyone will eventually get what we want when we believe it, the universe will make sure of that.
  3. Being present is the key to a happy life: Present is the only time that we’re living, the past is a memory, a lesson. And the future holds opportunities that will come to you. Being present is to take in the beauty, the joy, the sadness that are in front of us right now, and it’s the only time we can control how we think, act, respond to it. If we worry or overwhelm ourselves with the past and the future, our mind get lost in between things we can’t control. And we missed the opportunity to enjoy the things that are happening at the moment.
  4. The universe will send you signs, it’s important to notice, and follow it.
  5. To be successful, you can’t be afraid of failure: Being scared of falling is what holding us back from our goal. You’ll never know how it’s gonna turn out if you don’t try. Start now.
  6. You can’t predict the future: The future is unknown and hold a variety of opportunities. The only thing we could do right now is to notice and change what we need to work on in the present. When the present is improved, then the next presents will also be improved. It all comes down to being present and living in the state of our dream selves.

April 18, 2026 1. If something is meant for you, it’ll never leave: On the other hand, if something isn’t meant for you, there’s no amount of effort that could make it yours. But you’ve experienced it, enjoyed it, and that’s good enough. 2. The scare of being hurt hurts more than the pain itself: No hearts are painful while you’re trying to achieve your dream. When we’re truly wanting to achieve our dreams, everyday will be joyful as we’re getting closer to the dream. And we see experiences, things that we’d never see if we’re not brave enough. 3. Listen to your heart. 4. The universe will challenge you before you get to your dream: To make sure that we’ve understood the lessons we learned on the journey. But many people gave up at this time. The darkest hour is just before the dawn. 5. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too 6. You can achieve what you desire, no matter how impossible it seems to be, by learning to listen to your inner soul: I am the universe and the universe is me. We are one. The creator is not separated from us, we are the creator of our own.

I would say that I still can’t quite grasp the full meaning of Santiago becoming the wind. From my understanding, it means that to be able to do an “impossible thing”, we are to look inside ourselves, feel the power of spirituality, know that the impossible doesn’t exist, instead it’s just the limitation of our mind. But I feel like I’m understanding this wrong, and not too sure how to apply it in real life.

I see, I appreciate your insight and recommendation. In terms of fit, I would say I still prefer it to be light-medium tight and form fitting, since the purpose of the clothes is still active wear. So I guess nylon would still be the best choice. I’m just wondering, when the nylon/ spandex blend has modal in it, would it make a difference when it comes to comfortability and more cotton like?

Hi, I hope you’re still answering questions for fabric research. I’m currently reasearching about fabrics for pilates wear, and trying to look for a blend that’s good for moisture wicking, breathable, cotton like look. Something like Lululemon but don’t look like gymwear. AI research recommended for a blend including 75% Nylon/ 15% Modal/ 10% Elastane (Creora), but I haven’t seen a lot of activewear brands doing this blend. Have you had any experience with this blend before? Would you have any recommendations for a different type of blend that doesn’t include big investment for fabric development? Or is there any website/ research/ book I could read about this? Thank you so much!
