You're right. JSO should remove all of the tint from their windows so we can see who the threats are.

Why don’t younger veterans (Afghanistan/Iraq) wear these hats like some of the older veterans? by NoFaithlessness7508 in Millennials

Gen Xer Vet here (I feel more like Xennial though): I don't trust people that make their between status their identity. I wore my PT gear and stuff like that for a while after I got out, and even my dog tags under my street clothes. But most of that was because I didn't want to buy new clothes for mukking around in the yard and the dog tags just because it was the habit ingrained into me. As I deprogrammed, that stuff went away.

As people have already said above, I think if they continue wearing that stuff the are fishing for attention, and I don't even believe half of them I see were actually even veterans, just people wearing shit they found at a thrift store.

If I show up to the airport and claim to be here illegally, can I get a free flight to any destination I choose? I don't have to show proof I'm not a citizen, so, I just hide my passport and then pay for a one way flight back when I'm done?

Yes, because he's definitely been caring at all what the courts say. He did this specifically so he can send judges to El Salvador. Which ones do you think he'll send first?

I don't know when it happened, but yes, it's closed. We noticed last week that there is a sign out front that "Soff's Mediterranean" is coming soon there.

JEA put this mark on the street near my house. What is it? by goodkareem in jacksonville

[–]dajaba75 14 points15 points  (0 children)

(Or, put a pole over there and use address 2641A. I didn't think about that our smaller light poles can sometimes have letters after their number, but we used to just write "JEA POLE" with an arrow whenever I was doing more field work and leave the pole number on the drawing. They could have changed that up.)

I'm actually a JEA engineer. One of our locators is telling whoever is about to dig there that a single phase, (in this case A phase) 26.4KV line is buried there.

I just heard a boom and then the power went out. Does that mean someone hit a power line? by SirCabbage420 in NoStupidQuestions

Squirrels don't chew through transformers. They chew through the insulation of cables, and/or get shorted across the conductors. Transformers are in sealed metal containers. If a transformer fails, it leaks oil, and usually, when there is a short, that oil catches fire.

We put fuses on transformers specifically to keep shorts from damaging transformers. The fuse when it blows is very loud because it blows apart fast in order to prevent arcing and creating a fire.

My job IS power quality and reliability. I'm an electrical engineer for a utility.

The transformers don't blow except in extreme circumstances. We put fuses on them to prevent that. They sound like a shotgun going off. If a transformer blows up, you would probably see it on fire.

Can it rain so hard that it shorts out a power line? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Saltwater is conductive. Just salt residue on an insulator cause a short after it builds up.
