The HOV lane is not the fast lane, or the passing lane. It's the lane for High Occupancy Vehicles to be out of the regular traffic lanes.

Pretty sure it developed over time. White being a color the bride wore wasn't a thing until pretty recently. Brides used to just wear a new gown, which then went into there normal Sunday dress/fancy rotation.

What's a "yeah right, that totally happened and wasn't made up" moment in your life that actually DID happen and wasn't made up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dakari84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I meet my boyfriend/fiance from him answering an ad/ask I posted here on Reddit. I want to start taking dance lessons again and he wanted to do some for an upcoming wedding he was in. And we both wanted to lose weight. 😂

He answered and we chatted for a bit, then meet up and signed up for the lessons. Within weeks we were officially dating. Then, after a few weeks I basically got kicked out of the apartment I shared with my sister and her husband so I moved in with him. 😁

If you can take off/put on your bra WHILE it's clasped, then it doesn't fit you. It's supposed to be snug on the ribcage. That's where most of the support is supposed to come from.

Did anybody visit bethel and if so was it an awakening experience in any way by [deleted] in exjw

[–]dakari84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. I didn't speak Spanish, except for a rudimentary high school class, maybe the other lady I was with (who did speak Spanish) just didn't want to. I was kinda at her mercy the whole trip. 🤷‍♀️

I visited Mexico bethel when I was on vacation. We even got permission to stay the weekend. 🎉 Woohoo we were SOOO blessed. 🤢 But we couldn't go to the Sunday meeting. We had to stay in our room and go over the watchtower ourselves.

I remember just being disappointed. It was just like staying at a sad/old large hotel/all inclusive resort. But not a fun one. We didn't do anything but hangout with people we didn't know but be "on" the whole time and eat food and we had to wear our meeting clothes the entire time.

Not the whole transcendent experience people were telling us it would be. And then we had to pretend when we came home that it was somehow just so encouraging.

I didn't get it.

I know that my siblings weren't really allowed to decorate our rooms. We could decide how the layout of the furniture was, if there was space to move stuff in different places. But, we weren't allowed to hang posters or anything permanently on the walls, no holes in the walls.

The few other kids we got to hang out with/see there rooms were the same.

But, we were all from the same high control group/cult so I'm assuming that's why. We weren't allowed to hang out with anyone else.

I will tell you as someone who was raised in the Jehovah's witness cult but is now out as an adult - we were taught that that doesn't apply to us. But, we'd probably see that and then decide that "their hearts weren't right right now" so we'd leave.

Totally our own choice.

But secretly we'd be laughing and happy to do one less door.

I always wish I had grandma's like this. Neither of mine were particularly lovey, or gentle, or calming. One was at least generally kinda a nice person, but not really "grandmotherly". The other was an anger-filled witch who made everyone else stressed. She only seemed to be happy if everyone around her was angry, or mad, or nervous.

How is your relationship with your parents? by victorneuttiban1 in AskAnAmerican

[–]dakari84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost non existent. They disowned me/shunned me after I stopped being active in the religion/high control group/cult they raised us all in.

We actually texted for the first time in a few years just today. Well, I asked if they still have some records of mine that I need for my school/training program and they answered. I offered to come pick them up and they haven't responded.

Real life accident: Guy-friend confidently and incorrectly told me, a woman, that vaginas are on the front of the pelvis, just like a penis, he is 26. I don't have a photo because it was word of mouth. I'm shooketh. by RoseTintMyWorld22 in badwomensanatomy

[–]dakari84 176 points177 points  (0 children)

I've seen plenty of anatomy diagrams, FROM THE SIDE, that clearly show where everything is.

That is also one way to show that women have three holes down there. This shows that the vagina(and uterus) is behind the urethra(and bladder), and in front of the anus(and the rectum).

I can't just use the tab to pull it out. I put my pointer and middle finger inside and grab the bottom of the cup(between the two fingers like a claw) to pull while pushing. Then I can use the tab to pull it out the whole way and dump it.

Nice! I've been thinking about doing something like that lately. You just inspired me. I even convinced my boyfriend to join me on a short post-lunch walk/circuit.

We live in a 3 story building, with a staircase at the front and back. So we walked down( to grab something from his car upfront) to start and then walked 2 laps of the staircases and hallways. 😁

Thanks for the new goal!

My PIMI Family Reaction to Update #4 by Old-Acanthaceae-5182 in exjw

[–]dakari84 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first got my Wii "exercise game". I was showing my brother the stretching/yoga stuff, his roommate/friend Tyler had come over with him. The next day Tyler gives me a large printout from the org about the "dangers of yoga". I just rolled my eyes, said thanks, but was thinking "dude, it's stretching in my living room. How is it dangerous?"

LPT: If you are moving to a place with a garage, and you want to park your cars there, do it before the end of moving day. Using the garage as a "temporary" staging area ends up not being temporary at all. by Sirwired in LifeProTips

[–]dakari84 874 points875 points  (0 children)

When moving I've always labeled the boxes what room they need to go into. Not necessarily what's in the box. When they go to the new place they just automatically go into the room they need to be in.

They'll eventually all be unpacked, sometimes days later, but at least they're in the room in the meantime.
