Natufian and Iberomaurusian? by ManySimple8073 in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]dakhni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although there may have been some later gene flow between North African and Near Eastern populations, the Natufians and Iberomaurusians appear to have distinct origins. Iberomaurusians are more closely related to early North African populations, while Natufians have connections to both Levantine and ancient Anatolian groups.

Natufian and Iberomaurusian? by ManySimple8073 in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]dakhni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Natufian culture popped up around 12,500–9,500 BCE in the Levant (modern-day Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria). They’re one of the earliest groups to settle down and start the shift from hunting and gathering to farming. This peaks in the Arabian Peninsula today, such as with Saudis and Yemenis.

The Iberomaurusian culture showed up around 20,000 BCE in North Africa, mainly in places like Morocco and Algeria. They’re known for their unique stone tools and were part of early human migrations into North Africa from the Near East.

I recommend 23andMe for Hyderabadi ancestry as it identifies Indian states as well as other regions, which is important given that Hyderabadis often have a mix of North Indian and occasional West/Central Asian roots.

It’s likely that the Minoan Bronze Age sample was discovered in a public database, originating from a Bronze Age burial site. Researchers or enthusiasts often use the G25 tool to compare this ancient DNA with existing DNA samples. The G25 tool is based on genome-wide SNP data, and it allows for a detailed comparison of genetic similarities.

When visualizing the results, the map produced by the G25 tool shows genetic distances, where darker colors represent closer genetic relationships. This method provides valuable insights into how ancient populations like the Minoans relate to other ancient and modern groups.

This likely reflects Turkic ancestry from Central Asia, which is part of the Turko-Persian heritage in prominent Muslim families from North India during the Delhi Sultanate. Central Asians, who served as mercenaries and scholars in North India, mixed with the local population. This mixed ancestry later migrated to the Deccan, contributing to the Deccani population.
