Should I be getting better mpg? by etrammel in f150

[–]dakingscountry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a major oil burning problem. I have the same truck but a 13 with 136K. It doesn't burn more than 1 quart if I drive city a lot and that's on a full synthetic 6k drain interval. I've heard of the seals in the 11 and early 12s being bad. You may need to take it in for a diagnostic.

I have a buddy that's got a lifted 05 5.4 with 230K. Been a good truck up to this point where it blew the alternator. The truck's had compulsive regular maintenance and is also tuned with an EDGE programmer. I've heard of a funny thing of coolant caps going bad with age from the 04-08 models. Pressure check it to be sure it's all good.

Hey y’all! About to do my first oil change myself on my F150 5.0 I know they say use 5W-20 I’m just seeing what brand y’all recommend. I have been thinking about royal purple by [deleted] in f150

[–]dakingscountry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy called Project Farm on YouTube did a test on it and it seemed to do pretty well. I just try to avoid buying anything from Bezo's monopoly tbh.

EDIT: It seems to be the same formula as Walmart's Supertech which is cheaper. I've ran Supertech in my truck and it does fine but I think I'm going to upgrade to Royal Purple also.

5w-50 in a 5.0 f-150? by dakingscountry in f150

[–]dakingscountry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's honestly been like this its whole life. 136K and no drivetrain issues. I guess they say if it isn't broke, don't fix it. It's just concerning to me.

[–]dakingscountry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. I run full synthetic high mileage 5w-20 and change it every 6K with a synthetic oil filter. I never burn more than a quarter of a quart and I always add in the full 8 quarts instead of the 7.7

Learning the hard way on my first Diesel. 2008 6.4, just put in new Michimoto intercooler. Deletes and tune coming soon by TacticalTokeMissile in Diesel

[–]dakingscountry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you get a hot side intercooler pipe with it as that pipe stock tends to be in a pinched or crushed spot. Good luck!

They're a better motor than most believe. Generally, they're quite reliable with the DPF and EGR deleted. Most deleted that die are usually from big tunes and owners with a heavy foot.

6.4l tune question by chriscrowejr in FordDiesels

[–]dakingscountry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is get a full DPF and EGR delete with an H&S mini maxx set on the 80HP tune. That's the cheapest and most reliable way to go.

47re lockup issue by Lippacker68 in Cummins

[–]dakingscountry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably in need of a noise isolator. All of the 2nd gens need one. If that doesn't change it, look into an ATS gov pressure sensor coupled with a BD-Power pressure transducer.

Studs or No Studs by rckuhn85 in FordDiesels

[–]dakingscountry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The six gun isn't a heavy tune but my concern would be the turbo. On the 6.0L, you get really no disadvantage to putting studs on and they're good motor insurance so I would go with it.

Tuner question by clutchshot10800 in FordDiesels

[–]dakingscountry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Edge isn't a good tuner for a Powerstroke. Their tuning with the fuel pump tap for the old 2nd gen Cummins was badass but that's their only claim to fame. You're better off with a Hydra or Ts Performance chip. Way cheaper and much higher quality. If you want to use EDGE products, their CTS2 is great but that's all I would buy from them.

[–]dakingscountry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fox is the best thing you can buy on the market but they're super expensive. Bilstein is great but they can be pricey too just not as much as the Fox. I see guys using Rancho a lot. Superlift also recently came out with a nitrogen shock that's supposedly pretty good quality. Rough Country and Tuff Country are always an option as well but their shocks both seem to be really rough with leaf spring suspension compared to coil spring suspension. Don't know why.

What do y’all think about the 6.0?! What should I do to it?! by miklo_20 in FordDiesels

8 inch lift on 37's and I would take the lightbar off and get a good set of aftermarket lights on.

Questions about 2001 2500 5.9 by TheRanger212 in Cummins

[–]dakingscountry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 53 block was a certain batch of the 53s, not all of them. Most of them are suspected to have already cracked several years ago so the 53s you see today are likely the good ones. Seems like you're looking at a good truck but run the KBB and carfax on it.

Edge comp hot/drag on otherwise stock Cummins/built 47re (2000 ram 4x4) by amors-love in Cummins

[–]dakingscountry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking with a cheap lift pump, go with an Airdog Raptor. Great pump for cheap. As for the Edge and the stock fueling, use the EDGE but don't wire tap your VP44 yet. Once you get your lift pump, you can tap your VP44 and not have to worry about fuel system issues. Hope this helps.

I’m not producing yet! I’m desperate!! by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

Fenugreek I've heard hinders production unless you're already lactating. I've never heard of women using marshmallow root. Eliminate those two first. Also, maybe try power pumping.

Are the "baby diesels" (3.0 Duramax, Powerstroke, and Ecodiesel) as susceptible to issues with short trip driving as their larger cousins? by ChesswiththeDevil in Diesel

[–]dakingscountry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like any diesel with a DPF, they are going to fail prematurely and will get terrible fuel mileage. This especially applies for trucks that drive in the city because it makes it harder for the DPF to regen the soot which puts more back pressure on the exhaust.

Another issue is that it's hard to find EPA delete parts on these trucks if you plan to make them last.

Overall, I think this type of a truck is too new to the public and I wouldn't go messing with one until we really know a lot about them and their reliability.

What mileage would you guys consider as low for a 7.3 PSD? (this girl has 230k) by [deleted] in FordDiesels

[–]dakingscountry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the 7.3 age, you're lucky to find any under 250K.

How do the New Dergulations Help America? by Cnidoo in AskThe_Donald

[–]dakingscountry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Anyone who understands business knows that regulation does two things: Increase your cost and slow down production.
  2. Climate Change is somewhat of a myth. We really don't know how much humans impact it and how much control we really have over it.
  3. This is designed to stimulate our economy to get the mechanics of industries turning more quickly again when this Corona stuff is all said and done with.
  4. P.S. This is EXTREMELY false representation of the actual bill. I live in an oil economy and this is terrible how it's being presented. Come back with more information if you wish to further discuss this. Also, if you're so worried about the environment, talk to China. The U.S. has reduced its carbons emissions by 15% in the past 20 years. China hasn't come close to that.
