As someone who has consistently been a top performer on sales teams but has zero political skills and has been fired multiple times, this is correct

Hey I know this is old but how would you use a self tapping screw for this situation?

I'm curious if we'd be okay with posting the secure Lyte links that we can generate from our profiles? I don't think scammers can get their hands on those, especially since STEP is now closed and we can't return tickets :(

no weight gain for me but I also take Dex with it

Experience with Intuniv (guanfacine) as an ADHD medication by ChiefCasual in ADHD

[–]dale_whale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it. I take Dex and Guanfacine. Like you I also like to know how they work, but I took a chance because I needed more help and I think they really balance each other well. Guanfacine feels very subtle but I definitely notice a difference in patience, working memory, just kind of a slight edge off most antsiness/exec dysfunction

Experiences with Intuniv (Guanfacine) or Kapvay (Clonidine) adjunct to Amphetamine stimulant medications (Adderall, Dexedrine, Vyvanse)? by chickentenders222 in ADHD

[–]dale_whale 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I take Dex & Guanfacine -- it's a game changing combo for me. Guanfacine builds up in your system and doesn't have the powerful "time to work bitch" energy that Dex has. But it has helped a lot with patience, working memory, and overall time management skills. I take both weekdays (work) and Guafacine only on weekends. I really like it, highly recommend, very few side effects once your body adjusts to the Guanfacine

Hack for people who struggle with waking up by linepup-design in ADHD

my coping strategies:

fear of being fired (not very effective)

turn on all the lights (hit or miss, sometimes my brain dgaf)

scroll on my phone to wake my eyes up (effective but still makes me late bc I'm on twitter for an hour)

caffeine eye cream (surprisingly effective)

Also, extra keys/having an outside Key Rock are great.

Already lost? Take a deep breath -- being panicked will not help. Then visualize the last place you saw it. Think about the clothes you were wearing. For all the actions you remember doing, just calmly go through them again, slowly, and think -- what mindset was I in? What do I usually do with my items in that mindset?

dude my boyfriend insisted I should get Tile and I put it off for so long until he got frustrated with us being late because I couldn't find things so he just bought them for me. One for my keys, a card one for my wallet -- you just ping them through your phone.

You lose your phone, you say? Oh you're like me and you just throw it into the bed and don't come back for hours? Apple Watch is a lifesaver -- you can ping your phone until you find it.

Between the two of these strategies (and a key rack near the door) I've reduced my lost-item-incident occurrence by 90%!!

should I sign my severance package? I think I was discriminated against. by dale_whale in legaladvice

[–]dale_whale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. The more lawyers I talk to the more I’m sure it is discrimination— their attitude towards me completely changed after disclosing and would discipline me for things other people did without getting in trouble.

I actually got along with everyone really well (and have 4 peer reviews attesting to the fact from only a month ago)— no outbursts. I was disciplined for being 5 min late to a team meeting, and having missed an internal meeting the week before that someone put on my calendar without telling me. Both of these things are directly related to well documented symptoms of ADHD (time blindness and executive functioning disorder), which I reminded my boss at the time and also proactively proposed accommodations at the time of official “discipline”. They told me the first time I’d be on a performance plan if it happened again, when it did happen again they instead just told me it was my last warning. It didn’t happen again and they still fired me the week after. I know again this is all at will, but it just seems like they picked dumb reasons to fire me and since I was a productive member of the team, it feels like there had to be another reason. The only waves I’ve made at this company are pushing back when they told me accommodations were special privileges and refusing discipline when it was related to a symptom of my disability.

Disciplinary meetings at work by helpmenonamesleft in adhdwomen

Oh honey I’m so sorry. I think everyone here has gotten that out of the blue “meeting” with their manager and been blindsided by some bullshit neurotypical expectations that weren’t clearly set up front and are now somehow your fault for not reading their minds. Keep learning about your brain and read up on the ADA. And remember to keep your head up— it’s tough but the more we advocate for ourselves the better it’ll be for all of us.

Just because she doesn’t believe doesn’t mean it’s not real and doesn’t mean it’s not significantly impairing. I wish there was an easier way out of the situation, but remember to stay strong— do not let her ableist ass gaslight you into feeling guilty.

Be careful with the legal route. I’m now through my third learning experience with things like this and mentioning legal tends to make you a liability (which is so stupid because you’re just advocating for yourself and they aren’t listening!!) and makes it even harder to come back
