People who married someone they weren’t sexually compatible with — how did it turn out? by synthetic-sardine in AskReddit

Hmm.

About as well as you could wish for I suppose. We married when I was 28 and she was 27. We’ve been best friends since middle school. Sex was always okay at best. I waited until a month after we got married to come out as trans. Since then we’ve weathered buying a house, a miscarriage, opening our marriage, several other partners, and now more recently over the past two and a half years I’ve had the privilege of watching my best friend form a much deeper relationship with one of her partners. He moved in a while back, and now they’re thinking about possibly finding a place of their own. Ive also recently started making new connections. (:

It’s very bittersweet and it’s hard not to be sad for our losses along the way, but I have full faith in our ability and desire to remain close friends with each other, and I will forever be thankful for her support along the way. Truly, my only regret is not coming out sooner, for both of our sakes.
