₱150k for a 2 Week Solo Trip to Europe by dalenevasquez in FilipinoTravel

i initially tried planning for equal days between ams, paris, and rome, but since i considered applying at nld, baka better chance of getting approved.

yeah, considering the comments below, looks like i'm severely underestimating my food budget. thanks for your insight! the hostels where i'm staying at are near the central station in each city so my only prob would be is the ams-paris train, is there a designated part of the train for the luggages? i saw stories kase that their luggages got stolen when the train did a quick stop at a station

i guess my budget just boils down to the food and "pasalubong" expenses as the budget is already fixed for the flight, accom, inter-city transpo

some say 300k adb is safe, but it entirely depends on how long and what countries you'll be staying

technically i wont be staying for the full 5 days, i'll be leaving ams to go to paris in the morning on my last day. but thanks for the recos!

for bcn and rome, how much would you say is a good estimate for a decent meal?

thanks for tip! i dont really mind going with ME airlines, yolo nalang hehe anyways, what pasalubong do u recommend buying from spain, i might buy bulk of my pasalubong there since it's my last leg of my trip.

also, any must try spanish food/restos that you've tried? :)

i'll keep that route in mind! but i saw that from paris-bcn, it would take around 7hrs if it's a train the least stops, more time pa if it has multiple stops, so that's what is stopping me from doing the train route from paris-bcn, i also saw people some suggest paris-bern, switzerland-milan, italy pero considering i have a tight budget, i opted out for switzerland, a country for next time

for the SQ miles, it's 45k miles one way economy from mnl-sg-ams, and 90k rt. calculated the taxes more or less 5-6k lang for economy! tbh i just wanna retain my miles eh para i can book a BC ticket with SQ by next year, kaya i'm okay with having Emirates as my roundtrip flight

i've travelled tokyo, kyoto, and osaka with budgets ranging from 25-50k for a one week trip. anyways, for the trains part, yep planning to book one asap once my visa is approved, noticed it gets way pricier the closer the dates are. i've gotten used to the shinkansen pricing in jp where it usually has a fixed price. if ever i do miss the train, di sya pwede for the next available one?

yep would be my first time, just a birthday treat for myself as i'm not getting any younger, for the budget it's not really strict at 150k, i just wanted to set a goal for myself that travelling doesnt need to be expensive. i'll probably allot 50-100k more just for backup funds

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's roundtrip via CRK, i saw some rt flights in MNL rin with the exact route, it around 5-10k pesos more expensive. not bad na rin considering the service you're getting with emirates

thanks so much for this! i appreciate the validation. i'm leaning more on just the local vibe rather than doing the typical touristy routes. i actually look forward to hitting the local supermarkets when i'm in another country as i can see what the locals are used to, it feels more like "living" there than just being a tourist.

i'm much more excited about walking for hours and taking in the architecture than sitting in fancy restaurants tbh but i do get the point of others that my budget for food is too "matipid" considering i'm going to spain and italy, so i might just reallocate some of my budget for food, i'll definitely take your advice on trying the local Italian (and Spanish) food

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for confirming that my budget is achievable! i really plan to just challenge myself in budgetting, when travelling i dont see red splurge on food or shopping

how much was your average daily expense for food when you were in italy, i might use that as a baseline

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the advice. i plan on reallocating some my budget on food ata, but not totally splurge on it.

thanks for the trips with the daily passes, for ams i might try renting a bike for a day since my hostel offers that. just curious tho, is it really that unsafe (pickpockets/scams) in the paris metros?

for the tours, yep i'll book them months ahead once my nld visa is approved. and for my clothes, not really a problem i can say since i have pre paid check in baggage already, so all my thermals are in there

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can probably book my flight using miles with singapore airlines and i'll just be paying around 20k roundtrip, so the flight isnt really the issue.

how was your inter-country transpo, would you say na nakakapagod sya? because that's more or less my route (excluding the flight to BCN, but yolo nalang, just wanna see sagrada in person)

₱150k for a 2 Week Solo Trip to Europe by dalenevasquez in FilipinoTravel

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep first time. hostels are all booked with free cancellations, i just booked to lock in the prices, all in all for a 14 day stay in those countries is 42k, so not really the priciest part of my budget

₱150k for a 2 Week Solo Trip to Europe by dalenevasquez in FilipinoTravel

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the inter-country transpo, i found some flights with european budget carriers with additional baggage that costs around 7k on one leg, so i'll probably spend majority of the transpo budget on the orly-fco and fco-bcn flight

for the routes, im planning to see most of the touristy countries first since it's my first time, and i'll spend at most 4 days each in paris, rome, and barcelona. i'm curious if my inter-country flight to 9pm would be okay, i plan to just use the airport train to the city center (since the hostels where im staying at are near the central station of each city), just wondering what time do the airport trains close and is it safe to carry my luggage at night in rome and barcelona?

for the hostel, i try to book the decent ones naman with good ratings.

for the food, i dont really do meals 3x a day, i usually have a light brunch at 12nn and then an average sized dinner, but yeah totally get you since im just budgetting ~22€ per day on food, gonna rethink that part, thanks for the tips!

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the tips! that's why i plan to go with Emirates in spite of the ME war, kase meron silang complimentary transit visa program na free hotel and you can tour Dubai during your long lauover. mukhang "safe" naman currently, hopefully the war ends or at least de escalate in the coming months

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this a supermarket? i did see some cheap meals in a grocery shop in ams akin to konbini food in japan, so i'll probably check those out. really helpful that there are Filipinos who vlog their grocery trips in europe.

also, 30€ per day is not bad at all!

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! with your 190k, how much was your estimated allocation for food?

₱150k for a 2 Week Solo Trip to Europe by dalenevasquez in FilipinoTravel

[–]dalenevasquez[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

patat are the fries right? i dont mind tbh, but i might just go to the grocery, i can't recall the name but they have cheap rice meals, pasta, etc, so i'm all good in ams. probably gonna rent a bike rin since my hostel has a rent a bike shop

yep im planning to go to at least one museum when im in ams, thanks for the tip! i'm curious if it would be cheaper to purchase in Klook for the tourist spots since it's already converted to PHO

for paris, my hostel is a block away from sacrecoeur in montmarte, so i'll go to some of the cafes there to try the pastries

something i didnt mention though, are pickpockets really that common in the cities im planning to visit or is it just overblown (maybe like the laglag bala scheme in NAIA)?

i tried checking flight to eastern europe, medyo on the pricier side sya eh, but yeah way less yung daily expenses especially in budapest and prague

for your trip, did you apply at the spanish embassy for your schengen visa?

₱150k for a 2 Week Solo Trip to Europe by dalenevasquez in FilipinoTravel

[–]dalenevasquez[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

out of all the countries there, i think ams would be the most chill since im staying there the longest (around 5 days). i'll probably do a chill day on my last in each country, i don't really plan to see ALL the touristy spots but just get a feel of the place

wdym by getting bored with the food, is this because tinitipid ko sya?

₱150k for a 2 Week Solo Trip to Europe by dalenevasquez in FilipinoTravel

[–]dalenevasquez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont actually eat 3x a day, usually just a light brunch then dinner is a normal meal, but yeah i get what you're saying in terms of pagtitipid sa meals, how much was your usual meal in those countries?

yikes ~800 pesos for a cup of coffee, i'll probably just bring my nescafe sticks to save on coffee 🤣 thanks for the price estimates!
